Yeap, I am sure folks remember that great escape against the powerhouse Temple. lol
UCF starts the 2014 season in Dublin, Ireland versus Penn State. After a week off the Knights play Missouri at Columbia. Then it's Bethune-Cookman, Houston, BYU, Tulane, Temple, Connecticut, Tulsa, SMU, USF and East Carolina. If UCF beats Penn State and Missouri .. which I predict .. they'll continue undefeated the rest of the way. At the end of the season the Knights will be in contention for the College Football Playoff. They won't make the cut because they didn't play enough ranked teams.
How's that for a free crystal ball consult?
Well, ahem, very generous of you . . .? I don't think UCF makes it out of either of those first two games with a win. Then they lose at least one more.
UCF will be just like they were before bortles... a solid directional school that can't play with the big boys consistently. Losses to Penn State, misery, BYU and we shall see about USF (a VERY similar situation) and East Carolina.
UCF needed a miracle catch to beat 2-10 Temple last season, a miracle to beat 3-9 memphis with two lucky bounces at the very end of the game, and had to score late in the 4th quarter to beat 2-10 USF. Not to mention close games against 5-7 SMU, 8-5 Houston, and 7-5 Penn State.
When you also consider they lose two of their best players, and a number of offensive linemen, you have to consider that they won't be as lucky this year, and will drop at least one or two games they don't expect to lose.
Barring luck similar to those close games last year, they won't beat Missouri. They'll have a tough time with Penn State, and Houston and BYU will obviously give them a game.
If they played Florida's schedule, I would be guessing 6-6 for the year. They aren't that good.

North Texas rated higher than Tenn. Go Mean Green!
Yeah. This is USA Today, not Phil Steele.
Steele's Power Rankings have Tennessee at 45 .. North Texas at 91.
Those guys at USA Today have dropped way too many tabs.
The countdown continues with good writeups on each team

Not only did UCF lose Bortles (#3 pick in the draft), but he's being replaced by a young QB with no experience. Their starter hasn't been decided yet, but all of their quarterbacks played terribly during their spring and even worse at their spring game . There is going to be a HUGE drop-off in UCF's offensive production.

12th without the injuries...can't really ding anyone with a high prediction before UF lost what 10, 12 starters for the season due to injury....
Even if we didn't have the injuries, 12th was too high, as we lost 12 starters before the season started. Historically, that doesn't bode well for the Gators, as we average 8-5 with we lose 12+ starters due to attrition...
