Why not let a legal free market decide that?

And Alcohol causes approximately 80,000 per year, yet it's perfectly legal. And of those 80k, most weren't the users but innocent bystanders of people's stupidity.

    http://www.cdc.gov/alcohol/fact-sheets/alcohol-use.htm

It doesn't seem that big a tragedy that 38k people died from something they chose to do. The tragedy is the untold numbers who died because of this silly war.

So . . . we want capitalists to control meth, heroin, and coke, or the government ?

Yes, as I recall The Savage was considered that way in part because he wouldn't partake in the soma. It wasn't mandated but strongly "encouraged." And it was more like Prozac or some other so-called antidepressant. It made the user more numb from emotion than high. I interpreted it to be akin to prescription medication instead of illicit drugs. IOW, he would've been much better off blazing one up than taking his prescribed, legal brain deadener.

Well, it looks like the hallucinogens might be safer than thought:

What I've got you've got to give it to your mamma
What I've got you've got to give it to your pappa
What I've got you've got to give it to your daughter
You do a little dance and then you drink a little water
What I've got you've got to get it put it in you
What I've got you've got to get it put it in you
What I've got you've got to get it put it in you
Reeling with the feeling don't stop continue

Realize I don't want to be a miser
Confide with sly you'll be the wiser
Young blood is the lovin' upriser
How come everybody wanna keep it like the kaiser

Give it away give it away give it away now
Give it away give it away give it away now
Give it away give it away give it away now
    I can't tell if I'm a king pin or a pauper

That would be the gangster capitalists. Instead, I meant, legitimate capitalists.

    If there is a distinction.

Making it legitimate capitalists (instead of violent black market "gangster capitalists") is the idea. I think.
