Urban our best coach? Never no matter whay he accomplished he lied and then bailed after a bad recruiting year. He got what he wanted and I do not wish him well.

Yeah I was a little surprised at that comment as well. Love the two titles but the way he left and his unwillingness/inability to sustain that success makes me say SOS was the best. Meyer had a good run but he can't handle the pressure which is why I was shocked he went to the nuts.

Your argument is a massive fail. He won two national titles, 2 SEC titles and made it to 3BCS bowls in 6 years. His three "bad" years produced a combined record of 26-12, 2 bowl wins and heisman trophy candidate for 3 straight years. If you were told hiring urban in 05 would produce 5 bowl wins and two BCS titles but would leave the program shaken for 10 years after, you would have taken it. You would have taken it in a heartbeat.

Shelly responded to the rumor by tweeting Mike and Urb are good friends and that Mike's move was a career decision period.

Urbs leaving will probably always remain a mystery that only urb knows. I have no reason to doubt there were health issues, and unless your a football hc at uf, there is no way of understanding the pressure that is there. The stress, the sleepless nights, can take it's toll and it is very possible UM wasn't the same for that period of time. I'm in no position to judge. I'm thankful for 2 NCs and now he is gone and we have a hc I'm hoping succeeds. I don't pull for osu not because um is their coach, I just never liked them period.

Did she actually say it wasn't true? If it did happen you can still say it was a career move because his career most likely would've been over there.

All that is great but you didn't really address what he said. He argued Meyer wasn't the best coach and I'd agree.

The ferociousness in which people dismiss Urbans accomplishments is absurd. Urban would have played for another BCS title of the program he inherited last year wasn't on probation. He won 24 straight games for Ohio state, mostly with players that don't fit his system.

Not sure I buy the not having the players that fit his system.

I get your comment about his accomplishments but I don't think saying he screwed the pooch at the end for us is negating anything he did for us. I also don't give too much credit to him for his first year there. He's a good coach that went to a weak conference and played the 60th ranked schedule. I'm not surprised at the outcome. Their team had talent. The question is can he sustain and beat the teams he shouldn't or that they aren't favored by more then 10.

I guess it doesn't bother me either way but that's not exactly denying it happened. That's just Shelly being a good wife.

    "Via Bucknuts...

*Days Of Our Buckeyes . We had been waiting until after signing day to tell you this story for two reasons: One, our source asked us to hold the information until the 2014 recruiting class was all signed up. And two, even if he didn't make that request, we wouldn't have wanted to rock the OSU recruiting boat so close to signing day.

Well, leave it to a Bucknuts subscriber to spill the beans. Front Row message board member "tOSUHook" posted yesterday that there was a serious altercation between Mike Vrabel and Urban Meyer. Some fans questioned the validity of the post. You shouldn't. It happened and we're about to tell you all about it.

The incident occurred in early December -- the week before the contest against Michigan State in the Big Ten Championship game. Ohio State had just given up 603 yards and 41 points to a porous Michigan offense and barely escaped with a one-point victory.

Well, strength coach Mickey Marotti - who is absolutely Meyer's right-hand man, was ribbing Luke Fickell about "not getting his guys juiced up enough" before games. No, he wasn't making a Jose Canseco reference. Marotti was suggesting that Fickell didn't get his guys fired up enough.
Then Meyer walked in and joined in on the banter. And while we're told Marotti's criticism of Fickell was somewhat light-hearted, Meyer was a bit more serious. He told Fickell that he needs to do a better job of getting the defensive players emotionally ready to go before kickoff.
Well, just then Mike Vrabel walks in and hears this conversation. According to an impeccable source, Vrabel went off. He felt that Marotti and Meyer were going after Fickell unfairly and Vrabel screamed at both of them. The shouting match escalated and it got to the point where Vrabel actually put his hands on Meyer. Didn't punch him, but did put his hands on him. (We've heard varying stories from two different sources: One says Vrabel put his hand around Meyer's neck and pinned him up against a wall; the other source says Vrabel grabbed the shirt collar and it wasn't quite as violent as the other source is making it seem.)

We're told it didn't happen right away since OSU was still undefeated at the time and very much in the national championship race, but eventually Vrabel was told he needed to find a new job. They decided they were going to try and keep everything in-house and make it look like an amicable split.
One major difference in what we've been told by sources regarding the incident and the post from "tOSUHook" is that the altercation between Meyer and Vrabel did not happen just days before Vrabel left for the Houston Texans. In fact, it happened over a month before Vrabel joined Bill O'Brien's staff. Like we said, the incident happened the week between the Michigan and Michigan State games. Vrabel didn't leave for the Texans' gig until Jan. 9.

So, there you go. We would apologize to you for not telling you about this earlier, but we can't burn sources. Especially really good ones. We were asked to hold the information until after signing day and that's what we did."

It's debatable. Remember how he got mad at that reporter during spring practice. If there were no cameras there, I believe he would've pulled an earl Bruce on him...it would be hilarious if he bowed up to vrabel...not only would Meyer want none of him, marotti would want nothing to do with him either..dude's a beast!

We're kidding our selves if we think OSU is any less stressful. It's probably in the top 10 football programs in the nation the last 15-20 years . He may have a easier road to undefeated seasons, but one would argue it's more stressful with that schedule than ours, because osu is pretty much supposed to beat up on that weak schedule, one loss and osu is done. In the sec, we win titles with 1 even 2 losses.
