That isn't what I was saying.
I was saying the purported effect is pretty far-fetched.
Than as stated. My apologies. Thought it seemed an odd point to make.

No need to review ...
Yes, I know you said you had a family member affected by breast cancer. This is why I'm baffled as to your position on wearing pink to support breast cancer as such a "terrible tradition".
Please help me comprehend ... does your response to Tilly's post re October's awareness efforts as worthwhile even if it only benefits one person not imply that only benefiting one person isn't worth the effort. Seems pretty clear to me.
Of course saying the entire effort is worth it of only to save a single life is far fetched, but that doesn't change the reasoning behind it.
This is terribly true. If they didn't want you to have cancer, they wouldn't pump you full of carcinogens every day. Most advanced country and 40% get cancer.
I like the all blue personally whats with the pink socks and such?
Somewhat true, but part of it is because we live a lot longer here than in most countries.
Sequins may make it difficult to throw spirals. :joecool:
Breast cancer- I don't understand why we -did you know about breast cancer- just don't paint the field pink with -breast cancer is all around us- lighter pink markings. We should -did you know about something called breast cancer- also wear pink facepaint and the -breast cancer is a thing- unis should be 100% pink. We should also paint -you should be aware of breast cancer- the entire swamp pink and all concessions should be in pink containers as well. Then -breast cancer- maybe -breast cancer- we -breast cancer- can -breast cancer- finally -breast cancer- make -breast cancer- people -breast cancer- aware -breast cancer- of -breast cancer- breast cancer.-breast cancer--breast cancer--breast cancer--breast cancer--breast cancer-
How come we never wear light Blue accessories? Without them, people will never know what Prostate Cancer is.
I never called it a terrible tradition. So let's start there.
Because as I stated the goal is to raise awareness and there are a billion cheaper and more effective ways to do that than to make new pink accessories for the players.
Wasn't it revealed last year that less than 5% of the proceeds from the pink NFL uniform items that were sold off actually ended up in research funds?
(Too lazy to look it up)
The amount given to any cancer org is only a fraction of what is put towards research. Effectively you are just donating towards careers
Kid football players love October so they can wear pink... It's fun and they do know what it "supports". I had barely heard of the charity before the NFL partnership. The bitterness in this board is ridiculous... Seriously, some of you are actually suggesting researchers are not finding a cure on purpose for cancer because it makes doctors less money? Crazy.
The Susan Komen charity gets a 4star rating (highest) from this watch dog site with the below figures. I'm sure they could be more efficient and I bet you can make a decent living working for them - see CEO salary at $600k. However, they don't look crooked too me.

You could just read this thread. I summed up how the NFL initiative focuses on AWARENESS which is the only "Cure" we have right now. They donate 5% of the AWARENESS proceeds to research. But ALL proceeds go to the battle against this dreaded disease.
Bitter? Crazy? That pretty much describes 90% of the board.
The pink is great. The kids love it and so do the adults. They are spreading awareness and have done so brilliantly.

Exactly. This thread is about complaining ....about nothing.... Something this board excels at sometimes.
Great post. Fact are our friends.
