Good news, but there's more than just the unemployment rate.

The unemployment data was for 2017 and the wage data was for 2016.

Wages are stagnant for those who aren't politically connected.

Or for people that are lucky to have a job in the first place.

Good news... but the polls are still fake news.

It's good news, but it's hardly a new trend:

The trend didn't count until trump became president.

To be fair, it wasn't even at a 10 yr low by the time Obama was a complete lame duck and old news. Seems to have really taken a nose dive since Nov '16. ;)

True, it has been a nice trend for a while, but it also shows that the "Trump is only helping the rich" and is going to destroy the universe talk was a bit hyperbolic.

Probably best to wait awhile and see what the tax plan actually does before we go calling trump's presidency an economic success. Obama had 8 years, the first year the market went down, then it turned up and the trend continued up his entire presidency. Now trump comes in and passes this tax plan, short term no doubt it's going to make the market go up, but will that be the case 3 years from now? We'll find out, but we're due for a correction.

I don't know there's been much of that. Certainly, the tax plan was criticized as helping the top 1 percent more than the middle class. But the unemployment rate, which is across the board, has been continuing to drop as it did under Obama. So the fact that the rate for African Americans has continued to drop is not really a surprise, is it?

I saw your post and was all set to reply, "You're right, but just watch, now they'll deny they said stuff like that." Then I kept scrolling and saw I was too late. :( Someone already beat me to it.

so your point is that LOTS of people on the left were saying it or that someone, somewhere must have said it?

My point is that @tilly is right, it was a common refrain from the left that a Trump presidency would cause all kinds of economic ruin and catastrophe, and that if anyone benefited it would only be the rich.

I don't disagree. I quess I am just saying the hyperbolic angst may have been a bit...well...hyperbolic.
