According to Pease, the sacks, breakdowns and pressure occurred when LSU "threw odd fronts at the Gators, with linebackers slipping into gaps or lining up outside and rushing off the edge."

"The Tigers threw an assortment of blitzes and different looks at the Gators that the offensive front failed to consistently pick up or handle. The linemen seemed confused at times, leaving defenders unblocked to take free shots at the Florida quarterback."

It seems strange that in game 6, with plenty of game tape to review, the offensive line is totally confused by different blitzes and looks by the D.

LSU wanted this game badly after being manhandled last year. Maybe they had a few "special" defensive formations saved for this game.

So what this is saying is our guys can't adapt but LSU can.

That's what's so mind boggling. It's not just a matter of our lineman getting beat physically, there seem to be consistent mental breakdowns. It's hard to remember the last time our offensive line looked like a strength.

"The linemen seemed confused at times..." because they are not very good nor "coached up".

I have grudgingly accepted the fact they are average at best.

They played poorly. That's about all there is to say.

I saw guys get physically beaten. Maybe in part because they were confused at times, but I don't think that was the primary issue.

When you have a 280lb LT, an OG with a torn pec, and an OG playing RT, its not too surprising they're getting physically beat. Especially against upper tier SEC defenses.

Ummmmmm..: isn't that what blitzing linebackers are suppose to do? Hit the gaps in the offensive line or blitz on the edge? How can a team be ill prepared for this??

Teams spend hours with their defenses just to make your Oline look confused and be confused. So if the first half is showing we can't pick up the players then you better start dumping the ball off fast. Some teams can adjust to this.

It's not like you need a bunch of five star OL either to be successful:

Specific to DJ and his really rough series in the fourth quarter including two penalties

How much do you think was attributed to crowd noise? LSU was by far the most hostile crowd we have faced to date.

I know I scream my a$$ off at the Swamp thinking it might have an impact, when the opponent takes a penalty or calls timeout.

75% defensive, 25% offensive recruiting. I give you UF football.

    Indeed. Wildly incorrect.

But injuries and transfers have killed us on that side of the ball, along with a couple of years in a row of inadequate OL recruiting a few years back.

Given our offensive line injuries and challenges, I'm surprised at the amount of 5wr sets we run. Would like to see more bodies blocking and more use of the FBs in the passing game.

good points---with a 5 wide set, you need a decent Oline and a QB who can make quick reads. UF's oline is not good and murphy doesn't have the experience to make quick reads.

Either way this year he needs to hit the offensive side of the ball hard in recruiting, no ifs ands or buts whether Muschamp has to do it personally or not. Something needs to be done.

Don't count transfers last years class

    Defensive - 16 players. 59%
    Offensive - 11 players. 41%

    This year so far

    Defensive - 7
Offensive -7 with majority being O Line but other than Nolan Kelleher, I do not know what else we got, bunch of who's who.

the problem is the KISS principle doesn't work in this case...I would rather learn a running back's play book in a heart beat compared to an Olineman's. Split second stuff.

There were definitely several times when a DL was double teamed, but another DL went untouched. Confusion was a huge part of it.
