UF shot 3 of 9 on 3 pointers; UConn shot 11 of 24.

We shot 11 of 17 from the line; they went 8 of 11.

UF got 34 rebounds, UConn got 26.

Prather had 19 points, Young 17, Scottie 15, Frazier 7 and Will 3.

    Bench points: UF - 3, UConn - 12.

They got us by 1 for the game.

Here (below) is the box score (but I'm a piss-poor cut and paste boy so please somebody, post it better).

Home court gives a team about a 20% benefit over a neutral site, IMO. The distraction of the crowd is only part of a home court advantage. Familiarity is also a part. UConn plays games every year in Madison Sq. Garden. They played twice there earlier this year. I though they were aided greatly today by having both crowd and familiarity advantage that they won't have in Dallas..

Looking at those stats, obviously the 3 pt. disparity jumps out at me. Hopefully they don't light it up from 3 like that again. UCONN was only not blown out due to them shooting so well from the perimeter, shut that down and we should be able to go to work.

Not afraid of UConn. They are easily the weakest team in the Final Four. Gators by 10.

We also didn't know how good we were when we played this game. We've had 30 games since then to establish who we are and what we do. I don't think this one will be in much question. We just can't let Napier go off.

Or at least slow him down enough to where he can't get his teammates into the game.

Scottie rises to the challenge on defense, and we dominate in the paint.

The biggest stat above is that they only got to the line 11 times against us, they are deadly from the line, if we play defense like that without fouling again on Saturday we will win.

Make no mistake UCONN will be tough. Napier is a better offensive player than Scottie. I suspect Billy is going to
develop a game plan that has Scottie emphasizing his defensive roll. Much has changed since this first contest.
Hill is really coming on. UF has to shoot decently from the three at this level. I love the Gators chances because of the defense but it will be much more comfortable if the three point % is 40% or above.

The standard historical value is about 3-4 points. If the two teams are of equal strength, this equates to about a 33% increase in victories for the home team. The more unequal the teams are, the lower the % advantage, as the game is less likely to see a variable outcome.

It is definitely a sizable advantage to play at home.

They had 24 points off turnovers. Don't think that's going to happen this time around.

The first game will be picked apart to death. Next Saturday it could turn out very different in every category. We have gotten much better and know how to win. We will just play our game and play hard.

But I know Billy will have a good plan and I think we have a huge advantage in coaching and experience which should carry us through to the championship. I am going to enjoy the next 2 games as much as I've enjoyed the season thus far and try not to stress.

The thing that jumped out to me - no Kasey Hill in the first game. The dude is a difference maker coming off the bench. But it has been a long time since that game was played. Doesn't mean anything at this point. That said, i like our chances a lot.

Both teams have changed quite a bit since the first game. The only negative I can think of for the Gators is that Casey doesn't appear to be as explosive as he was early in the season. I don't anticipate him going off again like he did then, but we have developed tremendously in other areas.

The national media in their first few brief references to the 1st meeting with UCONN mention Scotty being out for the last 3 minutes but don't as of yet have enough familarity wiith us to understand just how different and valuable Hill has become for us. Add in Walker's x factor production and extra fouls as well and this is a much different team.

With that said I admittedly don't know any nuances or growth UCONN has developed over the season as well just that they crapped the bed much more recently( against Louisville) than we have.

And of course, the national media just adores UConn.
