Joe Biden is the threat to the republic, not Donald Trump:

Letter to DOD on Maintaining Governor Authority of National Guard - National Governors Association (nga.org)

Joe Biden is trying to make another new precedent, this time usurping powers that belong to governors. In a historical power grab, Joe Biden seeks to centralize all military authority in the federal government.

The Tyrant in The White House has thumbed his nose at the SCOTUS on granting student loan forgiveness, weaponized the alphabet law enforcement agencies, politicized and weaponized the courts/judges, and now wants to take control of national guards from governors.

Why? Up to 11 states have sent national guard units to the border to help Texas defend the border against the invasion of illegal aliens.

The DOD taking control of national guards will end the defense of the border but at a historical cost as Joe Biden moves the country to a dictatorship. Yes, Joe Biden is a tyrant, a dictator, and is the threat to the republic. It's no wonder why all state and territory governors have gone on record to oppose this unprecedented presidential/executive power grab.

Why are governors of states not even on the border sending national guard units to the border, and why is that not a similar tyranny or abuse of power? Welcome to America, where if states attempt to usurp the Federal government, it will invite a response from the executive with whom we have invested imperial powers. There really isnt an argument that border policy and immigration arent the domain of the federal government. So who's doing the power grab? I'm pretty sure the guy running against Biden is also running on "massive federal response by the president" to the border, not "let the states do it."

This is a legislative proposal. That's really not what tyrants do, is it?

The DoD already has control of the national guards. Hell, they're called the "National" Guard.

And Genghis Kahn, humiliated by his unceremonious removal as History's Head Tyrant In Charge, could not resist a begrudging sense of admiration for the unspeakably diabolical and until this moment inconceivable level of evil that supplanted his previously unchallenged dominion: debt forgiveness for poor people (after they pay for a long time first.)

FYI, the Constitution specifically provides for nationalizing the Militia keeping in mind that the National Guard is the equivalent of the Militia referenced in the Constitution.
Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution:
[The Congress shall have Power . . . ] To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions; . . .

    Article II, Section 2
The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States.

Don't forget to bold that last part. States have authority over the National Guard until the Federal Government calls them into service. Federal Government can't just tell them to go home.

    Go GATORS!

Maybe he can explain why he thinks sending a proposal to Congress where it will be voted on by our elected representatives is the act of a tyrant.

Can only pray that the fundamental direction of the US changes from its current course. The Pro-Palestine protestors are Exhibit 1 for just how far the US Administration has gone to promote anarchy over responsible governance.

Would these petulant children be allowed this insanity in Tehran, Beijing, Caracas, Moscow or any other totalitarian regime? This question should be pondered by all poltroons, who are nothing more than "useful idiots". The truly sad part about this is that a large number of these protesters are none other than pay gumballs. We should all count our blessings before all that is good in the US is destroyed...

So, in your telling, the regimes in Tehran, Beijing, Caracas, and Moscow should be those that we emulate?

Personally I consider the freedom to protest one of the blessings of living in the United States. I guess you don't?

Correct, but the original post in this thread strongly implied that federalization of the National Guard/Militia was a novel concept floated by President Biden whereas the authority has been around since the ratification of the Constitution.

Interesting historic note: In 1957 Gov. Orville Faubus of Arkansas tried to use the state's National Guard to prevent the integration of Little Rock Central High School. President Eisenhower flipped the script on Faubus and federalized the Guard to protect the black students that were integrating the school rather than using Guard as Faubus intended.

I'm not really sure why the whims of state governors who are looking to countermand federal jurisdiction are more important than the priorities of the president.
