Not that this is a surprise, but Addazio officially made the announcement that Tyler Murphy & Ian Silberman will be Boston College starters next season:

    http://www.orlandosentinel.com/spor...yler-murphy-transition-20140423,0,260765.post
Boston College coach Steve Addazio said Tyler Murphy’s experience has been a huge asset for the quarterback as he makes the transition from the SEC to the ACC. Murphy, a fifth-year graduate, transferred from Florida to B.C. in the offseason, reuniting him with his former Gators offensive coordinator.
“Obviously, my familiarity with him – I recruited him. I coached him. I knew him well,” Addazio said during the ACC coaches teleconference Wednesday. “He’s pretty comfortable in terms of our program, our weight room, the way we practice, our terminology – it’s not a foreign animal to him.”

“You’re talking about a guy who’s been in the heat of the battle. He’s a veteran, experienced guy who’s been a starter in the SEC,” Addazio added. “… He’s got tremendous pocket presence. He throws the ball really well and is obviously really dynamic with his feet.”
Murphy isn’t the only Eagles starter reuniting with Addazio as offensive tackle Ian Silverman also made the transition from Florida to Boston College.
“Ian had a tremendous spring and he’s solidified our right tackle spot,” Addazio said. “Those are two guys with a lot of experience that I’ve known very, very well.
“It’s been a great transition and both are really going to help our program.”

nothing against the Tyler or Ian, but if I were a bc fan or even player I'm not sure how I'd feel about 2 players who have been there about 5 minutes being named as starters

Tyler Murphy being the starting QB didn't seem to me like a total guarantee.

Good catch. That was a "cut & paste" on my part (from the Orlando Sentinal article)! I did spell it right in the thread title and my input in the first sentence!! But, I've been known to butcher a name before! Don't ask me to spell Morningwig's name correctly! Can't do it! Won't do it! Won't happen...unless of course, I look at a roster. But otherwise, it will be misspelled everytime!

Shocker that our backups are some of the best players on BC's roster. Here's to hoping they beat the Noles next yr.

Man Muschamp has really put his job on the line for JD. I mean 2 backups left because they thought they could not "beat" out JD. Hope it pays off for everyone involved. For some reason I am not overwhelmingly confident right now with JD. Hope I am wrong!

It will be interesting to see how Tyler Murphy and Jacoby Brisset do this season. If they both do well, and Driskel does awful, it will get might chaotic around these parts!!! :D

I loved Murphy. When he was healthy he was in my opinion, better than JD. Not saying JD can't be better than Tyler, but at that time, he was clearly the better QB. He is a class act, wish he would have stayed, but wish him the best of luck at BC.

I never have understood the "Muschamp has really put his job on the line" comment. You realize the OC have made the same decision. After all, everybody keeps saying he knows nothing about offense, yet he's the one making that decision?

I dont see how you can say this after watching last season. I dont even think Tyler believes that because if he did he would have stayed and won the job. I thought he would be the starter at BC they really didnt have anybody else and I also believe Daz got to Tyler's people and told him this.

Silverman starting at right tackle is insane and it show you that he made the right decision. If he was still at UF he is fighting with Tyler Moore for the right guard spot and probably losing that battle.

well I'm an idiot. For some reason I was thinking they were named captains, even though it says starter and I typed starter.

    His pass completion percentages were:
    57%, vs UT. 1 pic
    83% v Ky 1 pic
    72% v Arky 0 pics
    55% vs LSU 0 pics

He injured his shoulder along the way not sure what game specifically, but he was managing the games, seemed to have great pocket presence and avoided the rush, great scrambling ability, and when his shoulder was healthy, great accuracy. He did all that without having the benefit of the first team reps in practice throughout the season/preseason. The injury to his shoulder, killed him because he was just getting comfortable, and looking very good up until then.

Oh please. He was a serviceable backup. Love his story and respect him for what he did. But he is not a starting qb in the sec.

It would be nice to have him as a backup. But with grier and Harris I think we will be ok.

I like Murphy, but leaving after all that talk of sticking with it and not transferring even without the opportunities, etc...then he leaves because he won't start was kind of odd. Still, wish him the best of luck...good kid. But tired of seeing transfers honestly. Starting to get annoying considering we won't oversign, so we end up screwed.
