Looking at the replay of the 2 point attempt its easy to see what went wrong. We had the exact numbers that we were looking for. 3 blockers for 3 defenders. Burton should have been able to walk in for an easy 2. Instead Garcia decides to double team the defender that Moore has already taken on for some reason. Most people would say we have the better team than Miami and the stats kind of back that up, but they sure out-executed us and thats why they won.

A lot of people have been critical of this call but I like it. I'm always advocating for the team to be more aggressive in terms of scoring points and I like this strategy. See if its there, if it is its almost certainly a success (at least in theory) and if its not then just reset and kick the 1. Even if you get a delay of game the PAT is still automatic from there just about. Oregon does this all the time. I think its smart.

I like the call on on out of conference games.

I don't completely disagree. As long as its a once in a while thing. Oregon gets away with it because they have a bad ass offense, and play terrible defenses, for the most part.

But if you don't get it, not only have you taken away our momentum, but you're down 7-6.

I didn't like it at all during the game. But looking back now, it's nice to see the coaches mixing things up.

Of course, if you do get it, not only do you keep your momentum, but you add even more pressure to the opposing team.

I liked the call. I didn't like the execution.

Was not necessary to go for 2.

Like Muschamp said if he had to do it over he would do it again. It was the right call for the look they got it was just blocked incorrectly as you can see in the photo

Yep and some writers have suggested it was a dumb play. I'm not sure they even saw this replay. Or maybe they just don't understand it. If we execute its a gimme.

They saw something and called it. That screenshot shows they were right with what they saw and to make the call, but the players didn't execute it correctly.

Yea, the payoff is not there. It looks to me like a team that feels they're not going to be able to beat the other team without some trick plays. I mean, it is the first quarter and you are trying to be fancy to get a 8-7 lead instead of a sure thing 7-7 tie. I think it smells like wuss football.

Wuss football? Really? Being aggressive is wuss football? If anything, I'd say it's the complete opposite. They saw an opportunity for easy points and took it. Like another poster said, the execution wasn't there.

"If we execute" EVERY play is a touchdown on offense and EVERY play is a tackle for loss on defense. The problem is, no one every executes 100% of the time; so, the issue isn't "was it LIKELY to work?" but rather "do we get a significant boost by getting the 2 points at that point in the game?"

I think the answer is "no" at that point in the game. We just blocked a punt, we just scored 6 on Driskel's run and we're about to tie the game. Okay, we get the two points it's like getting dessert; but, we still have 3/4 of the game to go....doesn't change strategy significantly. Instead, we take two awesome plays (blocked punt, TD) and have a bit of deflation by being down one point instead of tied.

I think it was a dumb call. We shouldn't have needed gimmick plays to win that game.

Statistically, it makes a lot of sense to go for 2, especially when you think you have an advantage like we did. Unfortunately, we didn't execute well at all.

Actually, plays like this kind of go against the theory that Muschamp wants a conservative offense. No conservative coach would ever entertain the idea of going for 2.

My response to Muschamp is that you have an inexperienced (in our offense) OL in a hostile environment and you are a conservative coach. This call not only goes against your philosophy but against the logic of the situation.

It's like saying you expect a close game, or something. Then if you miss you're stuck playing catch up.

Hard to believe we left someone unaccounted for, but that's one of the risks.

I felt like it disrespected the kicking game. Having no faith.
Just kick the XP and get it done.

I just think the downside was WAY worse than the upside. Down by 1 vs. up by 1.
