Looks like we have our first transfer. He was up and down all season, had some high hopes at first and he must have gotten in the dog house. He just quit getting chances.

Expect at least 4 more to be gone or transfer. Simpson was one of the players I alluded to.

He was a starter on opening weekend, albeit due to injuries. Looked like he had some potential, so hope he doesn't realize it after transferring to a rival.

anyone and really everyone had a chance to become a star this season. just had to perform when given the opportunity.

I suppose the coaches think the incoming group is better than those asked to depart? or were there other issues? work ethic? etc?

Not in all cases bogey. One of the players is a really hard worker that won't be coming back. Like I said earlier, attrition is always going to happen. Baseball exit interviews are a little bit more cut and dry compared to the others. But this kind of stuff happens everywhere in baseball, so I wouldn't put it past the coaches. But you definitely feel for some of these kids bogey.

Only have baseball budget for 11.7 so most if not all of the rest has to come from academics. We have high profile guys coming in like Puk, Morales, Alonso, Anderson, these guys are not going to sit. The great thing is drafted players have until July 10th I believe to sign so it gives coaches a bit more time to manage their rosters.

Simpson is a guy who needs to throw. You do not get better sitting on the sidelines. Likely best scenario for him is to go to Juco for a year then have plenty of options.

Interesting that there was a press release and a Gainesville Sun article for Simpson. As we've talked about, this is a common occurrence in baseball, but usually those players who aren't asked to return just disappear and us outsiders don't know they're gone until the Fall roster is released.

He had an injury that took him out of the starting rotation for a while and then limited him to spot relief late in the season. I seem to recall it was a shoulder (maybe tendonitis?) He was very effective early in the season when he was healthy.

Not sure why Reid didn't get more opportunities. Certainly understand his departure.

Connor had some flashes - suspect he will end up at University of Tampa.

Carmichael seemed to have a live arm with good velocity and movement when he was healthy early in the season.

good move for Simpson, Cory Reid, & Connor Mitchell to move on. These kids all want to play and sometimes UF is just no the place that can offer that to them. Again, many good options in the state of Florida. All of these guys likely would have benefitted starting out at the Juco level. Always suggest kids go where they can play. UF is a great school but if you wish to play right away, it may not be the best place for young guys to go unless they are top level guys.

Mitchell was a walk on and had to know where he fit coming in. He has just two years of eligibility left so JUCO is out and maybe a lower DII school is in his future.

Reid was a project coming out of HS and had a long way to go to catch up. DII would probably be his best bet as he too only has two years left.

Simpson should go JUCO and try to get back to DI the next season. There are a couple of others in last year's FR class that won't be back in 2014 and JUCO might be their best bet also.
