Grew up a Gator fan. Did we run out of room at his projected position?
hmmmmm!!!. The Canes look like they are trying to do something over there.
Justus Reed took his spot
If the NCAA doesn't hammer UM there is no justice in this world. They were cheating like crazy while on probation for goodness sake.
Miami HAS been hammered. two bowl bans including an opportunity to play in a BCS game. The last 3 years of waiting has also been essentially a probation on recruiting in itself with the uncertainty, negative recruiting, etc.
There will be more. At least some scholorship reductions, and probably more.
Self imposed bowl bans is not probation. I want to see ship reductions to the point that a punishment shows up in reduced performance on the field.
The question is when. The NCAA is always slow about these things. Golden will probably be gone before they penalized them.
The last time line that I saw, said that hearings would be in about a month, which is the start of the season. I wondered why the NCAA was putting it off until then. Of course, the way they do things, it could be next year.
by your standards, they have been on probation for 10+ years
Miami will get nothing. The NCAA has no balls. If I were running the NCAA, I would not let them give any scholarships for 7 years. It would all have to be pay as you go.
Dude... if half what has been said can be proven you guys are looking at a Death Sentence type punishment.
Don't get me wrong... I have nothing against you personally and your loyalty toward Miami. One of my best friends is a Canes fan.
But... it simply amazes me of how some Miami followers think.
And I mean that in a rather sincere way.
As I have said in earlier threads this year regarding Miami and what they have been doing down there over the last three decades. I come to... and repeat this question... once again:
Name me one school... one school that has done more breaking of rules and... in such an outlandish, bravado style... than Miami.
Please name me ONE school out of the 117 institutions in the NCAA that trumps Miami in their antics?
Everybody wants to look at Nevin Shapiro and him squawking to the NCAA.
And rightfully so! His testimony regarding the antics that occurred at the Mercury Club are flabbergasting.... just to name one incident.
But the truth of it all is that Miami has been a, "...loose cannon on ship"... for decades.
The stunts that they have pulled over the years and years have become so commonplace... so regular... so repeatable... that Cane fans have gotten accustomed to looking the other way... and not even thinking twice about it.
Miami was pulling crazy stuff... even back in the early 70's. And I am not minimizing Florida at all. They got into it when Pell came on board eight years later.
But how do I know?
I had two very good friends that I played high school ball with that took visits to Miami and eventually played for the Canes. They lived four doors down from me. They went south to Coral Gables... I took my talents to Gainesville.
^ Every school does it. Its just that the rule breakers involved don't get convicted running a billion dollar ponzi scheme and then sing like a canary.
One must be truly delusional to think that these big time programs are halo wearing saints who wouldn't dare think of going against the NCAA.....give me a break.
Miami has actually not been hammered, as everything has been on their terms. UM players were not allowed to transfer with immediately eligibility like Penn State and USC players when they were placed on probation. If I were NCAA, I would allow any player to transfer at year end to another program, as last phase of the penalties, but would not impose any other bowl bans or scholly reductions.
Seriously? That's because the bans were SELF IMPOSED. Alot of you are really going to be disappointed when our 'punishment' is revealed.
What I find more comical is that you said they gave up a BCS game lol
Maybe they banned their fans from the games too?
He waited too long to pull the trigger it appears.
yes except I didn't say that...
