While reading that it made me think about the biggest miss in the last 20-30 years: Sammie Watkins. Next to Sammie, it might have been Knoshon Moreno (sic). I once read an article where he was quoted in saying that UF was a strong consideration, but went to uga after Uban stopped recruiting him when Urban thought he had another RB in the bag. We missed both.

It happens. How many other schools lament not getting a few players. I think the misses could have helped us, maybe a lot, but part of that expectation comes from what they did at other schools. Would Sammy Watkins have been the same at UF?

Biggest misses I can remeber regardless of how they actually panned out - Boldin, Chris Davis, Antoine Smith, Magic Benton. I was also crushed when se lost out on Vannez Gooch but that was because I was a huge different strokes fan and we ended up getting him anyway.

Biggest miss of all time in any sport was Vince Carter. He was supposed to be sealed up to UF but just broke out his Sr. Year and couldnt say no to UNC.

Some misses that seemed BIG at the time...

    Keith Rivers to USC...

    Nick Maddox to FSU...

Antonio Cromartie to FSU, although think he was playing us the whole time...

    Lance Leggett to Miami...

    Will Witherspoon to UGA....

WE made a HUGE deal about these losses at the time...

Diggs, Agholor, Benjamin, Tunsil, John Theus, Avery Young would have been starting last year...but those were Muschamp misses, not all time list...

It would be awesome to have Leonard williams on the roster right now.

In reality none of our offensive misses would have panned out anyway under the three years of offense run while Muschamp has been coach. That's the painful reality.

    This is not reality.

The offense has been severely hamstrung due to gaping roster holes on the OL in particular, and WR, and IMO less than optimal evaluation and development of the QB position group.

If we hit on more OL and WR prospects, our QB play would have been much better and our QBs likely stay healthier. It may also have changed who we decided to go with at QB in 2012. JD was likely chosen for his running ability in an offense that could not pass protect and was weak at WR. If we can protect the passer and have somebody to throw too, I suspect Brissett would win the battle and the entire offense would look much different... much more like the Bama offense Champ wanted to install. Tough run game and effective play action pass game.

I think we have been missing 3 top OL, 2 elite WRs and a solid if not spectacular TE. Even if we had the personnel we would still likely have lacked the coaching and coordination needed. If someone's opinion was our 5 biggest misses were that group of personnel I would agree but believe the coaching under Weis and Pease would have been inadequate.

It was Leonard or Fowler. Both will be top 10 picks next year, so I would say we did okay.

We really don't know one way or another and there is no way to know for sure.

But talent matters and experienced talent matters even more. The gaping roster holes at OL and WR would have challenged any coaching staff. Filling those holes would have made life much easier on any coaching staff.

The 2010 thru 2012 recruiting classes were just atrocious on the offensive side of the ball and the roster has reflected that for the past few years.

    Fact is eveeyone misses, everyone.

What set Muschamp apart is missing so many on one side of the ball.

Well, the issue is three horrendous years in a row for two position groups (OL & WR) and very bad luck in a third (TE). Only one of those years is on Muschamp, but the program is suffering all three.

biggest miss for me on a personal level was Spurs not getting Emmitt to return for his Sr. season. OMG, what would he have done that year-maybe just an average year-but we will never know and It certainly worked out for Smith to leave a year early.
