Yeah, I'd say about 9 million reasons, and it wouldn't surprise me.
Sorry Nancy, didn't mean to ruffle yours and Bob's feathers.
Currently Nick Saban and Mack Brown make about the same salary. UTx is going to have to up the ante a lot in order to change Little Nicky's mind. UTx can pull him away for $6M guaranteed for 10 years plus incentives and a large pool of cash to pay his assistants $500k-$800k. Never say never, especially with Saban.
If I came up with a way to consistently beat Bama, I would call it Valtrex.
Kirby Smart to Russia, by the way.
Takes a LOT more than a "bite me" to ruffle my feathers.
My point is that just because Saban said that he's not leaving Bama does not mean the end of the conversation.
How many times did he tell the Miami Dolphins' beat writers that he was not going to leave?
Saban is in the only place in the football universe, at any level, where his abrasive personality and ruthless obsession with winning at all costs will never wear out its welcome. Bama football is the fourth person of the Trinity to those people. He isn't about to leave.
And my point is that no matter what he says, people, that aren't in the know, insist he is leaving. Having said that, I hope he goes somewhere, and soon.
Bama fans are different than Gator fans. They are very patient and proof of that was from their 92 championship until the first one under Saban. Very, very patient fans. They don't expect it but they won't turn one down. We aren't so patient
And, unlike Austin and Texas, Saban is a bigger person here in Alabama than he would ever be in Texas. In Texas, he has to share the perks with a couple dozen other people. It's the perks that Texas can't match - Alabama football could even drive the Cowboys away if they ever relocated to Alabama. You can't go anywhere in Alabama without seeing crimson. You can't say that about Texas.
If Sabin goes to Texas, does that mean Urbie comes back to the SEC?
Saban gets money and a statue if he stays at Bama. If he leaves he'll get money and death threats. No brainier.
