Like he mentioned in the interview, he was younger back in 04 when he had his sights set on the NFL. He's older, wiser and seems to have settled in quite nicely in Alabama.

Bama better not hope it turns into a bidding war b/c if it does the whole state might become bankrupt if they attempt to match Texas' offer.

Saban will not be going to crappy Texas. ESPN is so stupid about this it is pathetic. They just love to create drama and controversy, what happened to just reporting sports, and the outcomes of games?

    Things I know about Saban:

    - He is a competitor
    - He likes getting paid
    - He has achieved what he came to Bama to do
    - He has NEVER told the truth before leaving a job

Given the above, I have to disagree with posters who say he has ZERO % chance of leaving. BS. He has plenty of reasons to leave!

They reported tha UT talked with his agent...which seems to be quite possible. The drama was created on message boards far before ESPN ran the story.

    Lighten up, Francis.

It's just funny given what he said about going to Bama.

Conversation supposedly occurred in the days immediately after the BCS Championship game in Miami in January.

Suppose, for a minute, this really did occur (and I am willing to wager it did).

Also, suppose for a minute, Sexton subsequently spoke with Saban and Saban said he did want the Texas job.

Does anyone here think Mack Brown would still be the Texas Coach today if Saban was willing to take the job?

Crappy Texas? Are you kidding me? University of Texas is better funded than any university, and he can close his eyes and still recruit a top class every year. The one downside is that if he jumps now, his image as the guy who will jump to the highest bidder will be set in stone. Not sure he cares though.

Saban is not leaving Alabama. There is no better college job in the country for a man with his ego.....no matter what Texas and Notre Dame think. His system is now in place and he sweeps up 4 and 5 star players like they were popcorn. Why leave Bama and start over again at Texas?
