Which of those statements is unreasonable? I hate the Vols as much as anyone, especially growing up just south of Nashville in the 90s, but other than the statement about Jones dominating everywhere, all those posts seem ok. They are playing better than last year, have good facilities, point out it is only Austin Pea, and while I don't see it, they could vie for a championship in 2-3 years. It only takes one Cam Newton or Johnny Football and UT is as capable of buying players a anyone :)

All that said, I personally think Oregon an UF will slaughter them and send their season down the toilet and they will miss a bowl again.

This is a different way UT is going about things. They have rushed for 235 and only thrown for 120. In the past few years, its usually been pass for 350 run for 60. It is a start to want to establish the run but they couldnt do it against decent SEC comp. We shall see what they look like against Oregon and then UF.

Watch the game now. You will see that we still have a serious lack of quality depth.

How bad is/was Austin Peay. I didn't even know they had a football team...

That was definitely an issue last year, but I think the starters you had last year on offense were more talented. Your defense is what held you all back from going to a bowl last year.

Agreed. We lost to UGA by 6, USC by 3, Missouri by 3 in OT. If we even had a top 30 defense we could have finished with 8 or 9 wins last year. Our Defense was terrible.

What I see this year, through the first game and fall camp, is that we have a slightly above average 1st team on offense and defense. Behind that, we have a very very significant drop off to the 2nd team guys. That lack of depth will bury us in the second half of SEC games.

That will come with recruiting and years. They have to give Butch to turn UT around. It's not an overnight process.

I have no doubt they are improved from a coaching aspect: addition by subtract. Still a few good recruiting cycles from getting talent/depth where they're accustomed to it being.

If I had to choose one thing that I thought was the most encouraging from that game yesterday was that UT had ZERO penalties. A penalty free game against anybody is amazing, especially when its the very first game of the year.

The way you guys are recruiting this year, it won't be king before you have depth.
