She's gay so it's definitely not on her. Gotta be a mean Republican, probably right from the South.

I'm not sure that comparing receipts makes the case one way or the other.

Watched the report; the receipts have same time and date stamp, and the couple gave the reporter a copy of their credit card statement with the amount reflecting the $18.00 tip (an entirely legit tip). Seems pretty much a slam dunk.

EDIT: I doubt anyone could obtain that information, but a comparison to what the restaurant took as declared tips (most servers tend to only report the credit card tips about which they have no choice) and see if there is that $18.00 discrepancy. Or even the merchant copy of the receipt that was reconciled -- which, as it happens, the customers would probably be able to get their hands on.

We need a handwriting sample from both parties.

I think it shows its ridiculous to get excited about one alleged incident like that ...

That doesn't seem necessary if the credit card statement confirms the amount that was charged.

This was more geared toward accessing who wrote the message on the receipt, if any of them.

Seems to me who wrote what is moot if it can be established that only one of the receipts can possibly be accurate as the amount authorized, reconciled, and charged to the account. The one with the message is wrong on the numbers, ergo, it's pretty implausible the message originated with the customer.

Don't forget the Oberlin College incidents last spring. They cancelled classes for 2 days, Lena Durham (?) tweeted her support. and the college had meetings, seminars, etc. All because of a fake hate crime and that someone may have seen someone else in a KKK outfit- or perhaps it was just a towel. Not sure- because there were NO PICTURES.

But that didn't stop the faux outrage and the Hollywood show of support.

I know how to keep this kind of thing from happening as often:

What's funny is that I don't even remember the original story, just the stories about it being fake. But I guess I've never really been much interested in this particular genre of "click bait."

Interesting. I actually felt for the server when I thought it was a man. But having been stiffed by more than a few lesbians in my lifetime (notoriously bad tippers) I'm thinking there's a bit of karma at work here.

How horrific of you to stereotype like that.

So, while we're stereotyping: why is it that gay men tend to be so happy-go-lucky and lesbians are so angry all the time?
