I suppose no one has caught on to the irony that one of Obamacare's staunchest proponents posted this article apparently without realizing that the article itself exposes some of the biggest criticisms and glaringly obvious flaws within the "plan."

Much of what docs do is rote, and often made so by how busy they are, even when conditions may demand otherwise. Depending on the situation you could get better care from a less harried - and sometimes less arrogant - care giver. Again , states that have given more power to nurse practitioner and physician assistants show no increased problems according to studies. Oak brings up a good point about end of life care expenses, but any improvement in costs and care should be pursued.

I know you're being facetious here ... but why not get rid of licensing requirements ? I mean, it's not like licensing requirements are preventing the medical establishment from killing something like 150,000 Americans a year.

Ha! And none of those were accidental either!

Lol, you're on a roll in this thread. It's as entertaining as watching Leno do his JayWalking skit where the people on it are totally oblivious to the irony/humor of what they're saying.

    Please keep it up. Please.

Not only will we have death panels to worry about, we'll have incompetent (ill-equipped) people providing care. All at an increased price.

I'm missing the Affordable and Care part of the Affordable Care Act.

If you have anything substantive to say about the issue please do. You seem to be the only thread poster who seems to think it's about me.

Ha! Like we need licensing to prevent practitioners from wanting to kill patients. Like that's a real problem.

I just hope they publish the list of those docs so I dont go see them. But I think I get what youre after here, that no matter what, with or without licensing, mistakes will be made and cost people their lives.

Licensing at least gives the various licensing boards the ability to monitor and discipline or even revoke the license of those who screw up badly or often.

I see a PA all the time. For most things, they are fine. Costs are lower. Speed to market of PA is faster.
