Chicago city limits that includes its population is a MUCH larger area than Atalanta.

Wait they both go hand in hand as one can not be given without the other. So your point is 100% wrong.

I will agree with you though that it is not as easy as just using raw data when comparing cities. I have mentioned before in other topics when we compare us to other countries the same thing applies.

Ah yes, the ultimate insult - accusing someone of applying critical detail.

Why is this so hard to understand?

For those of you who just can't get it.

Chicago, Illinois has more Florida Gator fans than the city of Alachua, Florida.
Does this prove you're more likely to be a Gator fan if you live in Chicago?

I'm not sure how productive it is to take a city like Chicago and determine the "murder rate for Chicago" - it's more appropriate to look at the actual communities within the city. Compare Lakeview to Austin, and you get two vastly different stories of areas that are similar in population...but both are "Chicago" - same thing with different parts of Atlanta. That one rate may be lower is likely only related to how many "good areas" there are in relation to how many "bad areas" there are.

However, I would wager the reverse/inverse? is true: A city's predisposition to opera music may tell you something of their strict or loose gun laws.

What in the Hell does Chicago and Atlanta's murder rate have to do with this insane law in Georgia ? Bad enough with senile old goats carrying heat and popping a cap in a poor guy in the movies in Florida. The shooting rate will explode with the gopers excitement of throwing their weight,ah,, lead around. I predict shootings will become a daily event in unheard of places. Wal Mart, even the holy grail of the lardheads, Golden Corral.. sad.

And if your prediction turns out to be a bit far on the ambitious side are you open to the possibility of re-evaluating the impact of the legislation?

The new GA law pretty much mimics the carry laws here in AZ and, lo and behold, we go about our business without shooting each other. I carry everywhere I go and I've been insulted, cut off, and even ::gasp:: bumped into and my gun stayed right where I carry it. Nothing will happen in GA, but please, do let the histrionics continue.
