and how would you feel if you where standing there and your wife took a bullet as some scared store employee fired off a few rounds to save merchandise?

Yeah, shame on the stores for making things so damn steal-able. Mandatory posts in front of doors for all!

Really, this is your "first solution"???

I can see your reasoning behind turning them over to the police but would you want them shot?

This Kind of gang violence/theft should be a felony.

Maybe hiring a bunch of pro-active community organizers, going door to door and pleading with the residents to supervise their children, obey the law, and report crime, could help too.

I like the idea of some back breaking sweat producing work for their community that would last an extended period of time.

    Of course it is.(sarcasm)

"Remove the easy incentive and you end the chance of your store being hit."

I question why this would END the chance? Surely he doesn't really think this would prevent them from coming up with some other practice, which would likely be more dangerous than this.

Bill has the right idea--you shoot a few, and they WILL think twice about it. If they are just stupid enough to ignore the risk/reward aspect..."I try to steal a few things, I may get shot"...then they deserve whatever they get. Those who do have a brain which can discern the risk--will back off quickly.

Only problem is the first one shot will have Sharpton/Jesse/even Hussein coming on the airwaves stirring up trouble as if the poor little kid who looked like Obama's boy if he had one, was the victim in all this. Wouldn't be HIS fault he got shot for thievery---wouldn't be HIS fault he put the public in danger---wouldn't be HIS fault he was breaking the law in probably several ways. The vocal racist libs would be propping it up to be the ultimate insult to minorities committed by big, bad corporate entities such as Sports Authority and demand life in prison for someone other than those committing the crimes to begin with.

Screw the 'victim pity'--they pull this stunt, they get shot. Quick, clean, and over with in a matter of moments. Next attempt--someone else gets shot. Wouldn't take long before the attempts stop and they move on to bigger and better things to reek havoc on the public. (Like being navigators on Obamascam sites.)

I would be devastated-but it doesn't change my thinking on how to deal with these thugs

So a rack full of Nike wind breakers is worth a human life? Message board are the new wild west filled with keyboard cowboys.

Nope, but it's a reason to teach them one heck of a lesson in an effort to save their lives into something more productive.

Does this kind of mob action constitute a crime other than simple felony?

    Various levels of assault, perhaps?

No one's saying let the crime go unpunished, but to kill someone over material things is not something I'm willing to do.

Anybody who's talking about wanting these kids shot for shoplifting should have their guns confiscated and any concealed weapons permit that they have pull. They are completely irresponsible with a gun and don't deserve the right to possess one.

Don't patronize the retailer that takes preventive measures to increase security and reduce shrinkage due to theft.

A lot more involved than just windbreakers and shoplifting. Really would just like a pellet gun to stun them so they can at least be apprehended.

Uh, in response to a continued problem of flash mob violence and theft, the suggestion was made to shoot a couple to get the message out that if you participate, you could get shot. And you would do what? Put up a sign in the window asking them to go elsewhere? Leave some milk and cookies on the hearth?

Get real chompy. Mobs don't have a conscience and they collectively may have a brain. They are like thugs, bullies and gangbangers...they understand one thing...a sawed off shotgun stuck in their ear or a billy club on their head.

You are more than welcome to try!

No one said kill the little thugs--just shoot them. If that means tasering--so be it. If it means a trained armed guard up front--so be it. But just letting them go on and on with their thievery--unchecked and left to continue to do so, while waiting on your precious govt to do something....nope. If they choose to rush the store and steal what is NOT theirs---they should pay a price. And not just a wristslap or a stern talking to, but a hefty price. Otherwise the thugs will continue to do so over and over.

When it comes to letting the liberal thought process of handling the thugs with kid gloves--sorry, but it never has worked nor will it ever work.

I wasn't talking about tasering. The police would know better than to shoot these kids. If some yahoo with a gun doesn't he shouldn't own it. I pray that these types of people loose their guns. It's a Zimmerman type of mentality who see a black kid and thinks he has the right to shoot him since it's nobody's kid he knows.

Lol. Retailers can do whatever they want. For that poster to blame the retailers for having their goods too exposed is hilarious.

Btw I own a retail store. Maybe I should put my wares under lock and key?
