I think these things are a little scary, actually. It's really hard to prevent this type of thing and I feel like it could become a trend across the country.

It has been going on for quite awhile. The media, for the most part, has ignored it.

Is there such a thing as a remote door lock? Seeing those guys running into locked doors would be hilarious.

    Doesn't fit the narrative.

The first time they try that against armed citizens it will make the news, I assure you.

With all of the technology at law enforcements disposal I would hope that they'll soon be identified and arrested.

I would come down hard on them with some serious community service (I'm not talking some light weight time and tasks) making examples of each and everyone of them. Maybe that will save their sorry asses from making stupid decisions

The death penalty for extreme shoplifting is a bit much.

Sent from my mind using ESP

And when they trample a child to death in their mad rush out the door what will you think?

Looks like time for another law that increases the punishment for the crime past the reward of stealing.

I'm normally not a fan of those kind of responses either. However this is more than extreme shoplifting. They are endangering the lives and employment of several people. I'm can't think of another solution.

well the first solution is to install a few posts in front of the door that would not allow anything bigger than a shopping cart to pass.

Second- store policy that any rack that is within 50 feet of the door is not to be on wheels.

These are crimes of opportunity. Notice they grab what ever is by the front door and run. They are not holding anyone up or stealing cash from the register.

Remove the easy incentive and you end the chance of your store being hit.

In the vats majority of uses ... tazer and pepper spray are not lethal. Looks like we'll all be paying a little more for these products because of these thefts .... or increased security @ the front of dry goods retailers.

As a former retail chain financial officer who dealt with theft of high $ electronics, I like your points .... turnstile entries and exits. No carts leave store if a customer has a large and/or heavy load, use front door pickup and store associate assistance. I like the no-wheel racks.

funny that was the first thing that jumped into my head. What they do at electronic stores.

From the video the answers seemed easy to come up with and really not an inconvenience on the general public.

We'll agree to disagree on this. I believe that it is called weeding out the idiots in the gene pool and wholehardedly endorse it. Any idiot who does this deserves neither my respect nor my sympathy for his death. I would be willing to part with the cost of a bullet to remove such idiots form the gene pool. If my son (or daughter) ever did something like this and I found out, I would turn them in to the cops myself.
