This is what happens when no one reads what laws they're signing.

    http://news.msn.com/world/costa-rica-may-have-legalized-gay-civil-unions

"Conservative Costa Rican lawmakers are getting a lesson in the importance of reading the fine print.

They were mortified on Friday after realizing that they may have accidentally approved language making same-sex unions legal when they passed a piece of legislation this week.

President Laura Chinchilla on late Thursday signed the bill governing social services and marriage regulations for young people.

The mostly conservative members of Congress didn't notice that the final version of the bill had changed earlier language that defined marriage as a union between a man and a woman."

Now, this should be a lesson on a couple of levels:

    1. READ WHAT YOU SIGN. ALWAYS.
    2. Seems that the plague of elected officials that can't be bothered to read stuff all the way through is not just here in the US.
    3. The buck stops with a President and THEY should be reading what they're signing, too, and not just holding a ceremony or something. They are just as responsible as the idiots in the chambers who didn't read it either.

You know how when you check into a room you can request a no smoking room. Going forward, do you think will be able to request no same sex room? I mean the thought just make me sick.

Maybe you can bring your own silverware to restaurants as well so you don't have to eat with the same utensils a gay person has used?

    1. That's a bit far out there.

    2. Frankly I usually request a hypoallergenic room. I cite my allergies triggering my asthma and warn them about it, and the fear of having someone have an issue they were warned about usually helps out. You can smell the clean.

    3. If you weren't worried about this before, why would you make the statement now other than shock value? It's not like homosexuals just sprouted out of the ground like a new breed of daffodils.

It's not like being homosexual is a communicable disease here. Geez.

Just don't think about who may have had the room before you.

There are plenty of straight couples (as well as escorts, etc.) who would be at least as disgusting to think about having potentially had sex in that hotel bed.

How about a no obese people room too. The thought of two obese people having sex doesn't fill me with joy, not to mention they cause the mattress to hammock making it uncomfortable.

If I had to guess, it may be less reading what you are voting on and more considering the full impacts of the language. The latter error is more common than the former.

You're right. If you dwelt on it you've never be able to spend a night in a hotel again. It's a good thing the walls don't talk.
