Isaiah Stokes, younger brother of Jarnell. 6'7 225 as a freshman...
Ouch!! - One of those type of guys playing for Tennessee is more than enough. His older brother is perhaps better than Udonis Haslem was.
It was a close one between us and them for the older Stokes
I would LOVE to have Jarnell, and I'm sure Stokes 2.0 would be a beast in orange and blue
This kid's offensive game was silky smooth even as a freshman. I'm really hoping he puts down the donuts and commits to his diet. He could've been a top 20 recruit had he just worked on his body this entire time.
Legit question. Can he dunk??
Didn’t he switch from football to basketball after his junior year?
He just quit playing football, I think he's always played basketball though.
I believe that he once shattered a backboard.
He was listed at 310 lbs so he had a long way to go before really getting in basketball shape. The injury did not help matters.
Ironically, I just posted an encomium on Stokes on the insider board, comparing him to Nova's Spellman. This kid can play. Big, agile, surprisingly explosive, can score inside and outside, can pass, moves his feet and switches well defensively. Not much of a rebounder, but that could change if he gets in shape. His knee seems healthy, so now we need him to have a good offseason in our strength program. If I were the staff, I would be showing him before and after pics of Spellman all summer.
Encomium?? Did I accidentally wander onto a Harvard message board?
Stokes reminded me of glenn" big baby" davis. A hefty stretch 4 or 5. Not much of an athlete or rebounder but has a nice jumpshot and is a good passer. I wasn't too impressed but it was only one game that i saw.
I'm stoked about getting another Stokes.
