Makes me sick to my stomach that each kid gets a trophy these days. I'm only 28 years old which makes me pretty young, but I remember getting that big trophy when I came I 1st and I remember getting no trophy when I finished last. My nephew just finished his 1st season of tee ball and each team got the same trophy, they dont even keep score now cause they dont want to hurt anyone's feelings. Its bull crap!!!

This is a time of reflection, when we can step into the spotlight not as champions, but as good sports, and examples for how the rest of the league should behave. Particularly in light of what has recently happened with the Miami Dolphins, it's high time, and long overdue that an institution such as ours no longer emphasize winning, but instead emphasize civility, and being the best sports we can be. It should make no difference whether we win one game, or 10. We need to be good sports and good people. I know I speak for the faculty and administration in saying this. I look forward to coming back to the next couple of games, having Nice, enjoyable meals, and knowing that my family and I will ourselves, sit back, relax, and cheer on our boys regardless of whether they win or not. I for one find this new attitude very refreshing, I truly hope the rest of you will join me in feeling this way

Well faculty members do not pay the bills for the athletic program..and the big money maker in that is football. If you want to keep enjoying your excellent Homecoming weekends, you'd better hope for a quality and winning football program. And for that we need a quality and winning football coach and staff. That isn't happening with the current guy in place.

If you want civility, you should be advocating for Foley to fire Muschamp immediately.

I assume the faculty which you refer to all teach their students that success in their fields doesn't matter?

He won't be retained after losing this game today.

    No way.

You do not ever lose to Vanderbilt, in your own stadium, on Homecoming... E-V-E-R.

    Muschamp's gone.

This may surprise some of you, but there are quite a few within the UF hierarchy and administration who feel that changes to the football program are long overdue. Not changes in the nature of what can be done to win more games, but changes that will make our participation in this endeavor more civil, and more genteel. For instance, there has been talk about resuming a series with the revitalized Stetson football program, and even having regular games with numerous other institutions in the state of Florida with whom we at one time enjoyed spirited and friendly rivalries. It's high time that we assisted new programs such as Stetson and help build them up. We had a great run for 20 years, but as I said before, it's time for us to step aside and let other institutions shine. UCF, FSU, Jacksonville University, USF, and now Stetson each deserve their chance to share in the glory that UF dominated for so many years. I'm very happy about this change in attitude, and the rest of you should be too. I for one, would be happy to see coach Muschamp's contract extended for 10 years or more. And as you've heard me say in this thread, there are many others in positions of power who feel the same way. This is the new attitude, and way things will be for now on. It's time for each of us to cheerfully, unapologetically, and without second thought, get used to it.

No, it's not "just a game", not anymore, not since perhaps the early '80's. Don't know where you get your reasoning from but you have a lot to learn about modern day CFB.

R-E-V-E-N-U-E is the bottom line in a big-money, elite program like Florida's... and in a big-money, elite program like Florida's, "bottom line comes first".

Today, college football is a big, billion dollar industry and the elite programs know to compete in this industry, you have to be the best or at least be able to beat the best once in a while to stay elite.

UF has waaay too much riding on the line financially to allow this mediocrity to continue as it's football program is it's primary #1 money maker. Did you not see the Gator fans filing out in droves when Vandy went up 31 - 10?

Those fans and boosters are the ones paying the bills and when you drive them off with an inferior product, they don't funnel money into the program.

No way UF can financially afford another year of this.

    Muschamp's gone.
