My vehicle list... '70 Plymouth Valiant Scamp... Pumpkin orange with a black vinyl roof. (Couldn't beat the slant 6) '75 Toyota Corolla (My baby, until I swerved to miss a Pontiac Bonneville heading right for me, and I ended up hitting a freaking tree instead and went face first into the windshield) '76 Mercury Capri... (I rearranged the letters to spell "CRAPI") '69 Chevy Caprice Classic (MINT... My Grandparents gave it to me in 79, with 21000 miles, and a back seat that was sat in maybe twice) '88 Subaru XT-6 '94 Toyota 4-Runner '02 Toyota Rav-4 '04 Honda Element EX
I raced a S2000 in my 911 once. It wasn't even close. The S2000 destroyed me. Stock vs. stock those cars were about equal to 60, but not that S2000. I have no idea what they did to that car, but it was quick.
That's why they're so valuable today. It's always the things people don't think to keep that end up being worth something. If everybody and their mother is buying something because it's a collectable <cough> Beanie Babies </cough>, then it's not going to ever be that rare or valuable. I love trying to save things that might be collectables one day, but I have a horrible track record at it. Trying to figure out what might be popular in time, but not at the moment is tough. And even if I somehow had every 1977 Star Wars figure mint in package, it's not like I'd be able to retire from it. Still, it's fun to try and since the stuff I buy isn't popular, it's not expensive. Even if it all ends up being not worth much, something that's 20-40 years old and perfect will probably still make somebody's day when they find it on eBay or at Goodwill.
View attachment 30359 My Sweetest ride was this 1969 Mustang fastback with a 302 V8, and 3 on the floor Tranny. Thing would scoot. pS I don’t know why my photo of my 69 didn’t upload . Disappointing
99 Ranger. Bought it new, still have it. Going in the shop soon to fix rust and a full paint job. My favorite car was an '85 Tbird.
They're only 2800lbs, and there are quite a number of them with turbos making 500+hp. Mine isn't, but I do have a TPC Racing turbocharger setup on the Cayman. I used to say it was the Cayman Porsche wouldn't make, but that was before the gt4 came out, lol...
When I sold cars in the 80's, we would get demo cars. For a few months I drove an '86 Dodge Omni Shelby GLH (Stood for "Goes Like Hell") At the time, it was the fastest production car "off the line" A freaking OMNI, with the old Dodge Daytona 2.2 liter Turbo, 15" rims with Goodyear Gatorback Omnidirectional tires, and High performance clutch. I made as much, if not more money, just pulling up next to the "New" IROC-'s, Monte Carlo SS's, 'Vettes, as well as many older cars, (GTO's, etc.), revving my little engine, motioning for a race to the 3rd stop light, making a $20 or $50 bet with my opponent laughing at me, until I waited for him/her at the finish. That much power in a little car, with the traction, made it a scary fast car!
I rode along in this TPC equipped car a few weeks ago. Its an '03 but so quick we passed a new GT3 RS. Are you familiar with the Cayman work of BGB Motorsports in Ormond Beach?
To further expand this thread, I would like to see a list of what vehicles y'all have owned & which one was your favorite? Which vehicle that you haven't owned would you like to own?
My list is easy. 1979 Datsun 210 hatchback - used 1983 Honda Accord - (less) Used 1995 Toyota Tacoma - First new car 2001 Porsche 911 - Used - still own this one The Audi S4 and allroad were/are technically my wife's cars, but I drive them more than she does. The list of cars I've wanted and/or still want is long and mostly unrealistic, but if I had a garage I'd want a BMW M3 or Porsche Cayman, but probably wouldn't get either. Money and practicality no object, I'd like a LaFerrari.
OT: but for anybody interested in the Star Wars there's a show on Netflix that's pretty good. Just ran across it by chance over the weekend. Apparently it's a series that covers other toys as well, but the first episode is all about Star Wars. Netflix’s The Toys That Made Us explains how Star Wars changed toys forever @anstro76
Yeah I binged that whole series. It was like reliving my childhood. Netflix also has the original Masters of the Universe cartoon. Man it's soo bad, I I loved it. I'm starting to piece together how I turned out the way I did.
One of my favorite subjects.......cars. I have always been a fan of fast german cars as you can see below. First car 1980 VW Scirroco S Honda Civc Saab 900S Mercedes C43 2003 BMW M5 2007 Audi RS4 2008 Audi A8 2011 Range Rover Sport 2014 Audi S8 The S8 is a rocket ship, the quickest big car I've ever driven by far. The ultimate stealth driver, I can pull up next to most Porsches and blow them away off the line if I want to. Not that I do that of course
Is anyone watching Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee with Seinfeld? Great interviews(more like conversations) and some sweet rides.
Favorite car is my current one...Infiniti g37s convertible. Probably not the smartest purchase, but certainly the most fun. Worst car was a white 67 mustang fastback that blew oil like a mosquito fogger.
