Sounds much better than Kyle field..the house johnny built. Tebow only was part of 3 SEC East titles, 2 SEC titles and 2 BCS championships. I admit I can't stand the aggys but why would they want to name the field after a guy that only brought himself a Heisman? I realize he created a lot of buzz and excitement but you would think it would take many more accomplishments to have a field named after you. Please let Charlie Strong be the answer to take back the state and put the aggys back where they belong.

I found it kinda sad that for such an allegedly storied program that they would name their stadium after a guy who was there 2 years and never led them to better than 3rd in the west. He was a very good quarterback but his hype is more from a perfect storm (Sumlin coming in, moving to the SEC, etc) than for anything he ever accomplished in the W column

Pretty sad state of affairs when a school that allegedly has as much history as tamu has and has to name the field after a two year starter. Still they are sec brethren and we must watch out for our own.

I'd say the Swamp is the house that Steve built, not Tim.

I'm a big JM fan, but it is a weak move by TAM. I'd be embarrassed if I was an alum. It isn't his fault that the administration is pathetic. Reminds me of something FSU would do.

Yeah, but In fairness to FSU, I don't think Ron Zook field was their first choice. ;)

    Spurrier named it, "The Swamp"....
Spurrier ruled the SEC while he was at, "The Swamp."
Danny carried on the fine tradition that was at, "The Swamp."
Tim carried on that fantastic tradition even further down the line...
More true greatness will be played in, "The Swamp" in the years to come...

What other stadium in the SEC has that kind of image and intimidation?
Not at Tiger Stadium... been there... they are real close.
    Not at Tuscaloosa... been there.
    Not at Neyland.... been there.
Not at Jordan-Hare... they come close... but no.
Certainly not in Athens...sorry...they still got sewage pipes that run beneath the field to fix.
We wont go into the Misssissippi schools...or any other SEC school.

Timmy was a great player and he definitely was maybe the greatest but he did not build th Swamp. Saying that indicates you're a younger Gator (no disrespect) because there were so many great Gators it's impossible to name them allThat said, Danny, Carlos,Youngblood, Emmitt, Marshall... get the idea? As for Texas & M anziel broughtthem out of the dark by genrating unbelievable interest and revenue in their program...name the stadium after him is ridiculous.

Kyle Field seats 83,000.....45o million dollars in renovations will take it up to 102,500, making it the largest stadium in Texas and the SEC (surpassing Neyland stadium by 45 seats) and the 4th largest in the country.
Hence the house that Johnny Football Built......After Auburn expands Jordan Hare......we will have dropped to 7th in the SEC.....behind A@M/UT/ALA/UGA/LSU/AUB...

if any one person were to be attributed to building the Swamp it would have to be Spurrier.
He named it and then in his 12 year career at UF only lost 6 times in the Swamp.
Two to FSU the years they went on to win the NC.
Shoot Muschamp almost matched that many loses last year.

    Johnny Geekball didn't build anything.

This is sad. Just sad. I'm not one to talk, I spent countless hours on discussion boards like this one, but I do not play Fantasy Football, buy $200 jerseys of my heroes and pretend I am them, shell out 10% of my gross income to this franchise or that program, I am not a booster and I don't live my life vicariously through other people and take my pictures next to statues, plaques, or stadiums or whatever.

Fans in Texas have always loved football before and after Johnny Geekball came in and out. They will fill their stadium either way. The public schools might be falling apart, cops, firemen and women, and K-12 teachers will get paid half of what they are worth, but don't you worry the stadium and anyone associated with the football program will have an unlimited budget. There is no off-season either. Fans will obsess about every single aspect of last season's games until this season's games start. It is a way to escape the real world. The real world can be boring so you might as well escape it.

Whoever proposed that Johnny Geekball should have his name on A&M's stadium should be shot. He should be forced to follow Johnny Geekball around all day and clap every time Johnny Geekball speaks. His job, form now on, should be to comb Johnny Geekball's hair. He should be punched in the nads. That is all I have to say on this issue.
