I've never liked fsu...bur it went to a new level the year we played them in Tallahassee in 1999. I was at that game and if fsu won (unfortunately they did) they would go to the orange bowl..it was cold that night, low 20's. You know how hard an orange is at that temperature? Pretty much like a rock! The student section was throwing them by the dozens at the gator players parents...and security did absolutely nothing about it!! Leaving the stadium, I saw many gator tags bent up on the back of cars, a few slashed tires..and somebody poured burnt coals on a gator fans hood and ruined the paint job. Very rarely do I use the word "hate." I HATE fsu! nothing bad enough could happen to them. I wish bane for the "dark knight rises" would do a number on doak Campbell like he did on that Gotham stadium..I would be the first one clapping!

I have a feeling you have a problem with Nole fans.

Regardless of fanbase, what I witnessed should never occur...and security shouldn't allow it. It shows nill to no character or class. Who hits anyone like that???

They are in a class of their own. Hate is a little strong for me these days but the disdain I have for them is on par with people who steal.

West Virginia fans. scUM fans (of the past... haven't seen them recently). UGA fans in the 70s and 80s.

There are some fan bases like that. But not many.

Oak, I've been to the cocktail party several times. The worst I've saw there are a couple fist fights and the usual banter. The local police were quick to get that under control. Evidently, in Tallatrashee, that and worse is condoned for all things gator.

Worse has happened at cocktail parties back in the day, but it wasn't condoned by local police. And when we started owning them in the 90s, the mutt fans settled down quite a bit.

I've been to a few games in Tallahassee and haven't had problems beyond verbal stuff. But I have heard about them.

One of my favorites was in '86 in a driving rain storm at the erector set. Cold and water logged getting heckled in the student section all game long. We were behind the whole game, but towards the end of the game Ricky Nattiel makes a sliding one armed catch in the end zone mud to go ahead and eventually win the game. By the time the clock struck zero, almost all the Nole student fans had left and there were Gator fans scattered throughout the stands celebrating the win.

    Good times.

Not surprising from a rapist cheering fan base that will threaten the victim to silence.

I share your disdain. Miami is a close second, while UGA takes it up the rear.

Been to every uga game in Jax since '79 with no problems, but chatter. My only visit to the erector set (Gator win), a nolie ran by and sucker-punched me.

There is so much wrong with your statement I wonder if you simply made it up? First I went to the FSU/UF games in 98 and in 2000---- both in Tally. The 99 game was in G-ville. FSU did win both all of them. The Orange Bowl FSU went to was the 2001 so maybe you're referencing the 2000 game? The temps during that game never went below 45 degrees--- not cold really. The oranges were thrown on the field at the very end of the game not at individuals, and I witnessed security remove one group of students. Nice story---- mostly made up but hate on.

Not sure how you missed mutt fans throwing bottles, spitting, cussing like sailors, and throwing cheap shots / starting fights, but it happened pretty regularly in the era you started going. I went maybe once every three years on average, but saw it happening most every game I did go to back then and was in the middle of a few altercations, starting with cheap shots from behind and bottles thrown at us or other Gator fans. Happened at/after games and at the Landing.

I'm not saying all mutt fans were doing this by a long shot... but there were too many ignorant, cowardly trouble makers, and group dynamics would tend to draw more in. Plus anytime you see a grandmother "hunkering down" barking and frothing at the mouth, you know you're not dealing with civilized folks. Rabies shots were in order. ;)

In the 90s, the most obnoxious behavior pretty well stopped as far as I could tell.

In the few times I've been to Tallahassee, I've never had those types of experiences, and I've been right in the middle of the student section a couple of times. Plenty of verbal harassment, but nothing approaching a physical altercation. But I have certainly heard about other Gator fans experiencing it.
