moon over Tampa Bay
G8trGr8t, I hate to post following those Gr8t pics but here goes.
Clouds made today's launch a little short for viewing.
I'm jealous. Where did you go to get the shuttle launch photo's and is it open to public or ??? WIll post some more of DC when I get them downsized.
Its open, as close as you can get for free. Courtenay Pkwy N., Haulover Canal, Mosquito Lagoon side. About 10 miles north of the launch pad. Plenty of boats there, Coast Guard keeps patrol at the line. My pics are terrible, but it SOUNDED great because of the cloud blanket. I hope I can go for the last one in mid July.
Highlights of my 2 week trip to the Philippines and Hong Kong:
Went to the Philippines to see family I haven't seen in 10 years (although I've kept in touch with them, but haven't had the time or $$ to go). Had a blast being with the relatives and did do some swimming in the ocean as well.
Hong Kong Highlights: A terrific city, and the light show at night was awesome! I have to admit, the night shots I took aren't that good, but I at least tried
Central Plaza (Gold Tower):
More Tall Towers:
From the Peak (I loved this place too :
Po Lin Monastery:
Night Shots (Apologize that they aren't that good, I tried my best with a point and shoot):
Great pics everyone! I really enjoyed see them.
Love the temple pic and the night shots. Big cities just not for me though.
Here are pics from Alaska, Denali National Park, Seward Scenic Parkway, Glacier Cruise to Holgart Glacier, Hike up above Exit Glacier
Grizzly Bear, Moose, Caribou, Dall Sheep, Mountain Goats, Wolf, Humpback Whales, Puffins, Leopard Seals, Orcas, Black Bear, Dall Porpoises, sea otter
Unbelievable Alaskan photos. Makes me want to go one day.
I was able to see Mt. McKinley from the plane on the way back from Japan. That is as close to Alaska as I've been so far.
G8trGr8t what camera are you using? Beautiful shots Just gorgeous
Thanks. I batch upload to photobucket and that limits size I can post here but I am real happy with some of the larger prints I got done in my shutterfly book for that trip.
I upgraded to a Canon 40d this year and bought a 17 - 40 L series and got a 100 - 400 L series for my x-mas and birthday presents. All used gear to cut prices by 30% or so but the lenses are what really make the difference. One day I need to learn how to edit the pics with software and clean them up a little more.
I just got back from Glacier National Park in Montana and a tour through the Canadian Rockies (Waterton, Banff, Lake Louise, Yoho, Jasper) finished with two days at the Calgary Stampede (monster rodeo and fair). I have to go through all the pics and select the ones I like the most but will post a bunch here when I get done. I rented a wide angle 10 - 22 lens for this trip to try and capture the expanse but pics cannot do justice to the real scenery. Having been a few places, I can say that this trip provided some of the most dramatic scenery anywhere and some excellent hiking. Lakes from green to powder blue to crystal clear, glaciers, snow capped mountains, waterfalls, etc. Lot of black bear, elk, deer, a few moose, couple of young grizzlies, big horn sheep, mountain goats, and one solid black wolf puppy that I thought was a bear cub until I reviewed the pics. I also spotted a big grey wolf pretty close to me, some dall sheep with young, and two wolverines but didn't get any pics as they all moved too fast while I was trying to switch lenses from wide angle landscape to zoom lens. Need another camera body but wifey isn't happy with what I have spent on gear already.
The worst part was the tour busses that scared away most every piece of wildlife I found around Banff though. I would ride, look, and listen in early mornings and evenings until I found something and then a big, noisy, diesel powered bus full of screaming tourists would pull up and scare them off. Really pissed me off bad about the wolf pup as I could hear the rest of the pups working their way through the brush. Thought it was a mama bear with more cubs so I didn't get out of the truck to try and spot them and never saw them once the bus showed up.
