glad you enjoyed them. note that the ones on this page are from the Canadian Rockies. It is stunningly beautiful there too. 3 hour drive from Calgary. Lake Louise, Jasper and the area in between offer some of the most beautiful mountain scenery I have ever seen. I posted a two week driving itenerary for Alaska with links here if you ever decide to pull the trigger on Alaska. love to travel with the family and we have visited a lot of western parks so if you need any insight into them, feel free to ask.

lol..wish I knew how to use photoshop to bring out the mountain tops in the background. not a good enough photographer to balance the light I guess but was glad to be in the position to capture the shot anyway. you can see the detail in the reflection but it got washed out. those waterfalls in the middle back were around 100 - 150 foot tall for reference.

I believe a gradient filter would help with shots like that. Barring that, boning up on HDR photography is your best bet. You can create some pictures that have amazing dynamics.

Not that I am as talented as you guys here, but thought I'd share...

This is the view of my yard just as the sun was rising one morning. I wanted to get the light breaking through the trees/snow. This was with an older Sony DSLR, no special lenses.

And then this was once the sun came out...

so much mnore character at daybreak. use of light is one of the things I wish I could do more. I get to take pictures when I get there and for as long as it takes my wife and kids to hike away from me. I have seen people set up in places and wait for hours for the light to get right. Looked like you got some good timing on that early shot. the light really adds depth to the pic to me.

Thank you :) I had a couple of others that were timed better, but my camera is failing me. Sometimes I press the button and it won't take the picture.

I do make sure to use the landscape setting, then manually change the amount of light allowed into the lens. If I leave it at default the pictures come in too dark and you can't pick up the darker contrast. By letting it a bit more, it will catch just enough light. Just have to stay a bit ahead of the sun because if not there will be too much light in the shot.

Here is one of the 1,000+ pics I have taken. I'm really into nature photography. This one is at Lowry Park Zoo. They have two eagles there with broken wings who won't fly again. needless to say, I got some pretty amazing eagle pictures there.

This one is actually the first picture I ever took with my camera. Also still my favorite. it was taken at a random lake in Lakeland/Polk county.
