It looks nothing like a seminole chop and it has been around at least since the Zook era. It is very obvious it is a penalty flag gesture and it looks cool when everyone is doing it in unison. The music theme is perfect. The you suck part is newer and I dont care for that but I am not going to worry about that. At least they are not playing on broadway every quarter.

Whenever the other team is penalized I just yell out "back it up cheaters".
Join in and make that the cheer. It's better and funny to me.

Really, its just a football game. If the opponents are too sensitive to handle a little cheer, screw 'em,

It started out as "you can't do that", but eveolved. I still chant "you can't do that", and I really don't have a problem with it philosphically. I think how often we are penalized is totally irrevalent and it is good because it involves the fans in a way that is relatively innocent. At least it is not piped-in music.

Notice in the vid he says we say it to the "defense"? If were going to say it...it should only be said to the opposing offense....not to their defense...It makes no sense then. The defense does not really "move back"

I always like the flag gesture, I take off my hat and join in....but the chant is new, and I dont care for it.

It is the TV show Dragnet theme. Honestly, at first I thought the chant was "refs you suck".

Maybe watching the game in complete silence would make some on this board happy? The chants and organized fan behavior at the Swamp is ever evolving. It has changed a great deal since the 90s and that's a good thing. Students leaving an imprint of their time at Florida.

The point is, the chant can sometimes make no sense. "Move back" does not always apply.

And here I thought fans were tipping their hats and saying, "Thank you ref". My seats are too high and my hearing is going.

"Push 'em back, push 'em back, wayyyy back" is how I remember it. A little more civil than "you suck" but hey, what else is new?

Anytime you can make mention that your opponent sucks is a good thing.

In high school we used to chant the exact opposite to the cheerleaders.
