So the typical UK fan doesn't bother to watch Uk football?

The problem for UK with Stoops is if he starts winning-another program will want to hire him a way. So they improve and finish say 3rd in the east with a 7-4 record. He is hired away and they start the process over. It's a tough one to overcome.

Exactly, Kentucky football will never be a big program. At least not in the next half century. If a good coach does go there, its to step up to a traditional powerhouse.

And he was mostly successful, got tired of playing second fiddle to basketball, and jumped ship to TAMU at the earliest opportunity. Stoops will either suck or follow the same path as Bryant. I doubt there's a third option.

The minute Kentucky starts having any kind of success in football, Stoops will get hired away by a real football program. I doubt that will happen though.

Todays recruiting rankings are skewed towards the numbers ,not the quality. Once the big boy schools increase their numbers (and continue with the quality) kentucky will fall be the wayside. Ky. is just not a football state and recruiting against proven winners, the Big ten ....is a tough road to go. I wish them luck but don't see a Ky. record improvement.

That's exactly right. The only reason they are ranked pretty high, is that they have a lot of committments. Three and four star ones, at that. While the rest of us are waiting on bigger names, they are filling up with players that they are beating out the smaller schools for.

People need to actually go look at UK's and the Vols recruiting classes nothing is real impressive. People would be livid if those were our recruiting classes

If you look at their average star rating on Rivals, UK is currently ranked 10th.......in the SEC. As others have mentioned, once the big name players start announcing for the big name schools, UK will drop. They may still end up with a top 20 class which would be good by their standards. Last year they had the 29th ranked class in Rivals.

With very little in state talent it will be hard for UK to stay in the upper half of the east. They will make visits to the top three, but will slide down for a while.

Ole Miss is the curious school now, can they maintain their recruiting AND get to the top with Bama, LSU, A&M on a more than casual visit basis.

Why is it that no one from Kentucky is a big football fan and no one from Alabama is a big basketball fan?

Isn't it odd for your favorite sport to be decided for you by how good your team is? Seems strange to me.

You act like surrounding states of Kentucky do not have talent.... Granted they aren't in "talent" rich Florida, but if you do not think they can pluck solid players out of Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan, Georgia, etc then your crazy... Stoops is doing a fabulous job and props to him, and if your going to start with the building of Florida football program you have to start with graves don't you? Dickey didn't have has much success, but he started the trend of Florida bringing in winning coaches. Do we count Pell? Since he was part of a big scandal? Does that count... Granted we might not know if all coaches noses are clean... Therefore I can't really count Pell... Everyone hates on Kentucky, but they're off to their best recruiting start yet, I enjoy seeing the competition... Also an ex Florida coach in Charlie Strong has been doing the same thing at Louisville, I don't see anyone doubting his credentials... And don't tell me Louisville is more of a football school either because ill laugh...
