Which was a miracle considering the Muschamp basically had quit recruiting and our class was ranked around 98th in the country when Mac was hired.

Your optimism inspires. I hope he puts the product on the field that excites players. Our facility upgrades are huge for recruiting.

How Mark Richt recruited the state of florida so effectively is beyond me but it's impressive. We need a lot of the same with the occasional georgia/SEC state players added to the mix.

We haven't done too badly with grabbing an occasional player from Georgia...our main problem is the exodus of top talent in FL to out of State payola schools.

I would also like to see a lot more effort put into areas of Georgia that are closer to UF than to Athens. The southern tier of Ga would include Bainbridge, Albany, Thomasville, Valdosta, Waycross, Brunswick and Camden County. You can get to Gainesville in about half the time you can get to Athens from any of these locations.

Hey, we might as well own Kirby's hometown. I'm sure that would be a burr under his saddle!

Man that's amazing - so much going on in little Bainbridge. Did I ever walk into one here

Actually it's Brinson I was thinking of -- got some friends who own family property outside of Brinson (both Georgia bulldwags) and . . . . . outside of some seriously spectacular live oaks and hoardes of oppressive swarms of gnats, there wasn't sheet going on there.

Thanks man. I haven't been called optimistic on this board in as long as I can remember! Lol

I know your feelings on Mullen and company at the moment and (imo) when he gets things going for us you'll be fully on board. I couldn't say that about either one of us when we hired the last 2 dopes.

I agree with you. I'd love to get 3-4 players out of Georgia per year to make up for some of the top Florida talent going to Bama, Ohio State, etc...

Chatfield is said to be 240, which in my book makes him closer in ILB.

Excellent point Crusher. I mean, what, Valdosta is about 1.5 hrs from Gainesville, and even Tifton, more toward the middle of the state, is about 2.5-3hrs, depending on how and what you drive.

Ga & Florida are leaders by quite a bit in the number of Scholarship Football players at SEC schools.

If there is one thing about recruiting HS kids to college, it is exactly the same as in Real Estate: "1-Location, 2-Location, 3-Reputation." This is true for All Types of Recruiting, which is a very competitive thing for Top Prospects, whether they be Academic, Performance Arts, Athletics or Social Skills (some people really benefit everyone around them, so, you want them at your school).

So what exactly is the hard truth? I think the title thread is a little misleading.
