    against the #1 SOS in the nation.

    I still need to see more consistency from the bats and from the freshmen pitchers before I'm ready to take this team seriously, but if the Gators can finish above .500, they will make the tournament.

    We've had fun with the midweek game arguments over the years, but this year the Gators truly do need each and every one of those wins to get the overall record where it needs to be.

    I thought the freshmen pitchers did very well this weekend.

    With 27 games left, we need to go 16-11 to clinch a non-losing record (we'd need a single win in Hoover to be eligible). No doubt the 6 remaining OOC/midweek games will play a significant factor.

    (13 home games)
    ------------------------
    UCF
    South Carolina (3)
    USF
    Tennessee (3)
    FAMU
    FAU
    Auburn (3)

    (14 road games)
    ------------------------
    @MSU (3)
    @SWAC
    @FGCU
    @Missouri (3)
    @LSU (3)
    @Georgia (3)

    I'm thinking we have to go 9-4 at home (6-3 vs. SEC and 3-1 OOC or 5-4 vs. SEC and 4-0 OOC). At this point that still looks like a tall order.

    If we can do that then we'd need to scrape up 7 wins in our remaining road games. (6-6 vs. SEC and 1-1 OOC or 5-7 vs. SEC and 2-0 OOC). Again, looks like a very tall order.

    That said, it's certainly worth rooting for. Before the series win against Ole Miss it certainly seemed a bit grimmer. Need to win tomorrow night, and need to get at least one in Starkville. I heard an interesting commentary on Cardozo's show today about Crawford pitching better when April and the warmer weather rolls around; if that holds up again this year, then the prospects of postseason play seem a whole lot better.

    Sully is doing a great job with the guys. Crawford was huge this weekend, we need him to string together a few weekends of shutdown ball. Carmichael/Young have been throwing well too. Sully is molding these guys one game at a time.

    I told my son that was what was going on after Craford's second (mediocre) start. When has Crawford ever done anything noteworthy in cool / cold weather? Some players are like that.

    This is the first year in memory that the Gators played no early season series or games against weak northern teams to add a few easy wins. It's been a brutal schedule for a young team. Losing seven one-run games hasn't helped either.

    It was cold tonight. I thought of this when I heard the announcement of the rotation. I'd be interested to hear Sully's take on it.
