Had a great surprise yesterday while fishing for grouper/snapper... this guy hit a big live croaker on the way down to the bottom.

Had trouble targetting gags again... AJ's ate our live baits unless we had them actually on the bottom.. we got rocked too many times with it on the bottom.. sigh.

Got our limit of endangered red snapper though, biggest hoss was 28", landed by Gator7_5

Awesome, Burnett. Looks like fun to me! We had a good day today too. 5 gags, a red grouper, limit of snapper and some chicken dolphin. Never lost sight of the condos either...which was really nice.

Our trip to Panama City got cancled due to Debby a couple of weeks ago. We finally made it yesterday and were able to get out today with my dad. We got our limit of Reds and a red grouper. We struggled throughout the day to find good structure not being from the area, but finally we found a nice spot. Ended up getting all our fish their. Heading out tomorrow morning again to go get some more. Might make two trips.

Third Pic is a nice Mangrove Snapper I caught the other day.

I'll try to post more pics hopefully after tomorrows catch.

Took a day off from work yesterday and fished with a friend and his dad who was in town... it was a hell of a day. Landed the best box of snapper i've seen this year. We had 1 monster at 32" and 2 @ 28".. we had these in the box by 8AM.. the rest of the box was quality too, none under 10 lb's. We bounced around and tried for gag's, but our best shots were inside pensacola bay. I wrangled 2 nice ones measuring 24 and 29".

That's a fine string, burnett! Nice to get gags in the bay, too. This pic is from last Saturday (July 7). 4 gags, limit of snaps and a frisky king. We didn't have any snaps like those you caught, though.

Gag slaughter continues... hit the near shore stuff again today. Not as good grade of snappers, but we landed 2 in the teens. Also got 1 black (mangrove) and I went HAM on this 1 nice gag.. 29" 11.5 lb.

I was feeling the grouper mojo so I asked the capt to take me to the bay spot with the biggest gags.. he says, are you sure? Absolutely.. bring it on. So we hit a bay spot named BEAST in the machine... my buddy got the only bite, screaming drag a bent circle hook. Monster bay gag or potentially a goliath, not very common up here, but who knows?

I wish. Haven't seen any permit this trip and didn't make it out yesterday. Stayed too late Thursday night and it was storming midday down here.

Hit a gulf wreck on Wed. Thing was loaded with jewfish. I broke off at least 5 times as did my two other buddies. We did manage to get a baby up though.

My guide buddy told me permit haven't been on the backcountry all summer for some reason. I will say I've never seen more jacks as I have this trip.

finally fished yesterday... 2 dolphin around 10lbs, a decent blackfin tuna and 4 nice-sized tile fish.
kind of a short trip, but finally got back out there.

You guys might hate to hear this, but I gave away all the snapper I caught the last 2 trips!!!

That's right.. I'm totally spoiled.. only kept the grouper. also, I don't even eat it after its frozen, only fresh.

We were looking for a little change of pace this weekend so we headed to my dads hunting club in the Ocala National Forrest. They have a nice little house in the woods, its a great place to get away from the BS.

Since hunting season is closed we headed down to Salt Springs for some mullet fishing. Never really fished for them before but man is it fun! Pound for pound gotta be the hardest fighting fish I have caught.

We ended up with a nice cooler full for the smoker, and cooled off in the springs.
