The old days of Ted Turner and Dennis Conner in single hull 12-meter boats are gone.

Welcome the new "flying" catamarans of the America's cup with speeds up to 50 knots.

You can see a very cool interactive media presentation here

The team started with 2 boats (many millions). One crashed. Not a pretty sight. 50 miles per hour Wow!

Not sure what changes were made after the first 8 losses, the USA has someone that is pretty smart.

Also the USA team was penallized for breaking regulations and had a negative -2 from the get go.

Also at the beginning of the final race, the USA boat hit a hugh wave and almost stopped and was behind a considerable distance. It is almost impossible to make up such a disaster but the team prevailed.

Being haled as the greatest come back in all of sports history by the press.

Will there ever be an America's cup race with single hull boats again? I tried reading up on it but not sure I got an answer. It seems that each "challenge" specifies the type of boat to use. I'd like to see races between the bigger, single hull boats again.

And not to be a Debbie Downer, but I was a little disappointed to hear that the US boat only had one American on its crew (not counting the second American who got benched).

Amazing comeback! Although I have to say that something is wrong when they cancel races because the wind is to strong. Why not make them build boats that are sea worthy in almost all conditions (realize there should be exceptions for big storms). Kind of silly in that they only race in specific wind conditions because the boats are so fragile.
