Cleveland Browns have the worst idea ever for mentoring Antonio Callaway

Cleveland Browns have the worst idea ever for mentoring Antonio Callaway

"The latest sports example is unsurprisingly from the Cleveland Browns, who have decided that to cure Antonio Callaway, who the Browns picked in the 4th round of the 2018 NFL Draft, of his legal issues off the field is for him to be mentored by … drumroll please ……….. Josh Gordon!"

I’ll wait for you to stop laughing.

"If you don’t see the problem and how idiotic this is, let me remind you of what Gordon has accomplished in his NFL career.

Suspended two games in 2013 for violating the NFL substance-abuse policy? Check.

Arrested for driving while impaired in June 2014 and then suspended for most of the 2014 NFL season for violating the substance-abuse policy again? You bet.

Suspended for the entire 2015 season for, you got it, violating the substance-abuse policy? Yep.

Failing another drug test in 2016? Absolutely."

Notorious Notes; I can't believe I just read this article. AC isn't going to stand a chance.

Having a screw loose on the brain must be a prerequisite to be a wide receiver in Cleveland. Gordon. Landry. Calloway.

Somebody needs to talk to Antonio about the fancy cars he is showing off in social media. If he wants to buy fancy cars, it might be a good idea to keep getting paid... By not getting suspended for drugs.

I know there's a camp that likes Baker Mayfield, but man they could have had Darnold, Chubb, and easily traded up to get Sony Michel. I just have this feeling they're going to look back at the '18 draft and realize they really blew a golden opportunity.

As for mentoring Callaway with Gordon, I don't think it's going to matter one bit. Knuckleheads will do knucklehead sh!t. Unless Callaway personally takes responsibility for his life and grows the hell up, I'm afraid he'll be out of the league before his first contract expires. Hope I'm wrong.

After the whole Hernandez thing the last thing we need is this guy doing something dumb in the NFL. I'm rooting for him for that reason but can't help like this won't end up another black eye in public perception.

When Art packed up and left the Browns behind the most valuable thing he took was Ozzy Newsome.

A Browns player himself and a much better admin than the team that couldn’t draft straight.

They should have went after him years ago but they rinsed and repeated the same crap

The Browns are one of my old time faves but first Art ran off Jim Brown then he ran off himself in the cover of darkness

Haslem the owner helped out the Vol search committee as well to show how it’s done in the big time, so you understand it will continue

But hell they got rid of Paul Brown who the team was named for, so he started the Bengals with almost identical helmets before they went to stripes

The Browns were a fine team but the new version needs someone to run it like the Browns of old

At first sight, this does sound pretty ironic. However, if Gordon really has overcome his issues like many claim he has, I don't think you could pick a better mentor. Gordon has been there, done that, and bought the "I got suspended for weed" t-shirt. If he's found a way to overcome his past and all his temptations and become clean, why wouldn't it benefit AC to learn from him? There are several parallels to their stories, and this could be just what AC needs.

The best healers are those who've themselves been healed and have chronic health issues.

The best teachers are those who themselves have experienced what one is dealing with.

Not a bad idea at all.

Well, I once had a boss who had a great plan to catch thieves in his business. He called all of us (his management team) in and told us that we were thieves. Some of us were little thieves, we only stole pencils and the like. Some of us were bigger thieves, we stole thousands of dollars. He didn't care about the little thieves, he cared about the big thieves. His great plan? He hired the best thief he knew to come in and catch his big thieves. This thief had worked for him before and went to jail for stealing $15k from him. He asked my opinion. I told him he was a dumba.. and that she would steal from him again. He was dumbfounded that I didn't believe it was the greatest plan since sliced bread. He already had plans in place to keep that from happening. I made it my mission over the next couple of months to do surprise audits of the units she was visiting and auditing. Within 60 days I had proof she was working with the thieves she caught for a percentage of their take. In addition, I had proof she had coerced others into stealing as well. She went back to jail and I quit. Mostly, spoiled apples spoil good apples. It takes a miracle for a good apple to fix a spoiled apple.

Your entire premise is based on the likely incorrect assumption that Gordon has been "healed."
