The Ballad of Archie Who
Seriously, can we get a minimum age limit for this site? The 12 years olds (in this thread for instance) are really getting annoying.
Tilly speaks the truth ....agreed
Can't wait to see it
I think it was Sports Illustrated that did a story on Cooper Manning awhile back.
As I recall he was a Division 1 level WR in HS and had to drop football because
of a very serious injury or recurring injuries.
lol calm down, I'll check it out tomorrow and was just making jest.
I respect the family, all are successful. There is nothing more important in a son's life than his father.
Spinal stenosis, I believe. Said he was one bad hit away from being paralyzed, and had no clue. Talk about lucky.
If Cooper doesn't quit football, Peyton probably goes to Ole Piss to play with his brother.
The stuff about Archie's dad was crazy too. Committed suicide. Archie found him dead when he came home from school after his sophmore year.
Career numbers for Archie Manning at Ole Miss: 4753 yards, 52.8% completion, 31 TDs 40 INTs. LEGEND
Archie did a great job raising his boys. His wife, too. Kept them on the right path to success.
One of the most overrated football players ever. I never saw the guy play a down but he has no signature moments. All I hear is how all of his teammates were terrible.
Archie came home from college one time and found his father after he took his own life. That he went on to be a model father after that experience is a testament to his strength of character.
Archie had a couple of really good years with the Saints in '78-'79 before Dick Nolan went down in flames in 1980. He finally got a line that gave him some protection after running for his life for the first seven years of his career. Unfortunately, they had no defense.
Well worth it. My 13-year old daughter was happening through the room half an hour into it and found it captivating enough to watch the rest.
It is a really good documentary!! If you get a chance you need to watch it. I was flipping through the channels and seen it was on. I figured it had something to do with football so I will watch it. I'm glad I did. Hell I might watch it again tonight.
I love the Mannings.
You admittedly never saw him, but claim that he's overrated? That sums up football message boards in one tidy post. Strong work.
Never the less, a very interesting and informative documentary.
Peyton Manning lost 9 games in 4 years as UT's QB.......4 of the 9 to UF
Even with Archie and Eli,They never won the SEC.1963 last time Ole Miss has won the SEC.
Agree on all counts. Ditto.
