Even the name Copeland sounds good...sure it'll look nice in Orange and Blue.
Any gator commitments at the army all American game?
I did a forecast on 247 class calculator and by adding Jacob Copeland, Justin Watkins, William Barnes, Ed Montilus, Noah Jefferson, Coynis Miller, Dorian Gerald, Andrew Chatfield, Quay Walker and Oliajah Griffin we get a score of 286.93. Looking back at the last 3 years team standings that would put us finishing between 5 and 8 this year. Biggest stretches for now I think are Chatfield, Griffin and probably lose Gammage. There are a few bigger names on the board and I certainly don't expect we get all of these but CDM can still bring in a great class if a few go our way. The score could even go higher if we got crazy with Surtain, NPF, and replaced Gammage with another highly ranked WR.
That's beyond exceedingly good, that would really be an Astounding Finish. You neglected Couriage who appears to be reasonably strong in his commitment.
So given that likely 4-6 of the kids you listed will not be Gators in the long run (not counting Surtain, who would make it 7), I'm guessing a final ranking around 10-12, just like last year. That's not bad, for sure.
Not sure our chances but looks like Manac decommitted from Cincinnati this morning.
Gouraige and Gammage are already counted in the list on 247 since they are committed at this time. I'll say we get all but 3 of those I listed but each of those have other possibilities as well. Good either way for us.
Its funny. Recent chatter says Auburn is pressing hard for Gouraige. Gouraige has visited auburn twice in the last few months. He rated his last visit as a perfect 10. Since his visit for the Iron Bowl, Auburn has been trending upward for his services.
"It’s an eye-opener after this game,” Gouraige told SEC Country following the Tigers’ 26-14 win over Alabama.
Auburn is in home with King Richard this weekend. Thankfully for us, Auburn only sent 2 assistants in herb hand (ol) and Tim Horton (rb) (sorry. Old info)
247 crystal ball has increased in our favor to 95%. But just the other day I read that auburn may be more in play than anyone knows. (Can't remember if it was Zack or Andrew that said it)
If mom is neutral or wants AU I think he goes there. I think it was Zack saying AU in play.
Thanks. I couldn't remember exactly. Was it his mother tgat said she wouldn't allow him to attend UF? Or am I thinking about someone else? If his mother really was against him attending UF one would believe he wouldn't be allowed to commit. Hmmmm?
He's another kid we need to have. I have to be honest. I've watched NPF's film and part of a game. I know it's only an All Star Game but watching him get abused with such frequency really left a sour taste in my mouth. He was beaten every which way possible. Speed rush and bull rush ate him up. Those DL are special. It's left me with concerns about NPF.
I think NPF will be fine in college. He needs to add 20+ pounds and get in the S&C program. I'm hopeful we land him.
I'm concerned w/ Barnes. He's my favorite OL (that's considering/considered us). I'd also like to get his teammate, Montilus, who looks like he'll be a very good "roadgrader" type OG.
Not sure what this says about our DE board but....UF has recently offered two DE's:
Texas A&M commit, Tyree Wilson (6'5 230lbs, 3-star) & 4-star Caleb Tanner, 6'3 225lbs (Auburn leads).
You beat me to it Ghost. Caleb Tannor (proper spelling) is not a strong Auburn lean. I do believe he will visit. Still checking on Wilson. I will not add either to the board unless they schedule a visit.
How many more can UF sign? 13 are in correct do the 2 transfers count? that would be 15, so 25-15=10 or is it 25-13=12?
1. The word you used is "can" not will. So trying to answer your question, I have the Gators as of today having 79 players on scholarship going into next year with the assumption of Jordan Smith, Kadeem Telfort, and Marcell Harris not coming back. Those 3 have been discussed at length in many other posts. That leaves us with 6 more we can sign without any changes. If Marcell gets his 6th year that's one of the six.
2. What I believe the Gators "will" sign is about 9 or 10, obviously expecting other players to transfer. I don't have any first hand knowledge only what I believe from watching my depth chart and using many years of experience. I believe watching how many players we go after and possibly sign says a bunch about who is staying and any players who are thinking about leaving. There is no science trying to read between the tea leaves.
But if you need a got to have it right now number today then 6 is your number. But oh yes it might change tomorrow if we get more info who is leaving.
3. If you asking about over signing above 25 a year, I'll leave that to the other recruiting specialists to hash out. Yes the transfers count so we have signed 15 so far and could sign up to 10 more if we think the spots will be open. I don't get into the gray shirt possibilities, only what I have that adds up to 85. Either way we have to be down to 85 on scholarship before fall ball starts. That's what i worry about.
We've got plenty of dead weight that could be encouraged to transfer. Just like the gumps do it every year.
Yes I could list 7 or 8 right now easy but this is not the place. That's between the coaches and the individuals. Some will stay hoping the new coaches see something more than the past, but some will go, hopefully.
I say we sign 26 total in this class
Would you say Tannor is a possible replacement and there's no chance we get Andrew Chatfield or is Chatfield still any possibility?
No, I think AC is still possible. I believe they may see Tannor as a replacement or even a better fit in the system.
