The aftermath of racial violence after the Zimmerman case is appalling. And what is even more appalling is that our own President fanned the racial flames

    First, what Obama said;

    then, the violence

When Obama was elected, I had hoped he would indeed be the post racial President. Instead, in every single racial situation where he chose to get involved, he exacerbated racial tensions rather than elevated the discussion beyond it.

Several polls report that racial tensions are worse now than they were before Obama was elected president.

Even the normally reliable (from the standpoint of Obama) Washing Post gets in on the criticism

    Obama’s race remarks exacerbate tensions

Obama is the biggest race-baiter and thief our country has ever been held hostage by. Going on national airwaves to talk about it (the TM vs GZ) as if he was trying to sway the courts and the jurors before the case was even tried is unforgivable.

Well, Jessie says he frowns on young black thugs killing whitey, so everything is ok now.

This is a clear opportunity for Obama to lead on something he can probably make a positive difference on.

    He should definitely do so.

But I'm not holding my breath.

He does not know how to lead.

But then again, as the WaPo editorial pointed out, most victims don't.

Yes, it's time for the President to step up. To be honest, when he came to office I really thought that we would evolve racially as a nation. Get over the past and move forward by putting a real stain on our history behind us. I have supported this President on many issues. I still support him on many. However, sometimes not. However, he has a real opportunity now to step up and speak to the nation. Not as the first elected minority President, but the President of all people who make up this great country. We have come a long way (in a very short time because I saw it growing up in the 50's and 60's) since palpable racism in the form of blatant segregation. However, let's be honest, it still exists, we're still suspicious of each other and at times still afraid. That being said, I think we are facing a great opportunity to talk and be open. We are truly facing ourselves in the mirror and have to ask the tough questions. If not, this country is on the path to further division and hatred. I only hope that President Obama faces himself too in the mirror and uses his obligation as the President of the United States to move the nation forward, without hate, without division. It's there to grasp, the time is now. Please step up to the plate Mr. President.

There is a limit to everything, and this pendulum has swung about as far as it's going to go.

The "swinging" pendulum IS the problem. Why does it have to swing?

It is past time to talk about the racist thug culture of the black underclass. This cannot be swept under the rug any longer.

There are some black pastors, albeit only a few, who have ventured that, for too many blacks who consider themselves Christians, 'blackness' outweighs Christ.

As shown on this thread, resulted in some posters trying to stoke white resentment and a cult of victimization, even though - as is the pattern in this country - killing the black guy resulted in no penalty and blacks didn't riot as the same posters assured us they would. Not enough I guess. Now they want to lecture black people on what's wrong with them.

Well, that seals it. The race war is clearly on, now you just gotta pick sides.

wont be turning to Colin Flaherty for what he feels is going un reported. I don't listen to white nationalist radio shows, so i miss some of his insight.

They are. I get their newsletters(I'm sure that surprises everyone) for the most part I think they do good work, but like any leader I can't say I always agree with Dees and his tactics
