The existential crisis is, would you rather live in a country where an Aurora, a Sandy Hook, or even an Oklahoma City might still remotely happen -- or in the sort of country that can legitimately assure you they won't?

They can never assure us that things like that could not happen. That is a fairy tale. Bad people have been being born since the beginning of time and they can find a way to do bad things. No matter what laws we put in place or law enforcement we put in place crime still continues to occur.

The sad part is that most Texas probably support this type of thought policing.

For this, investigating the dude would be fine. Get a search warrant and seize his computer. See what websites he visits, what hobbies he has. Talk to his friends, talk to the neighbors. Find out if he has a gun. Do a background check. You know, do police work. Are the police / D.A. that lazy that we need to move forward with prosecution on a case like this before getting all the facts? Is it that much longer before we can start prosecuting based on what someone was probably thinking?

At worst, the guy should be nailed with a misdemeanor and sentenced to community service. It might do him some good to get him out of the house and away from the computer.

This is insane. Apparently he's been assaulted in jail and is now on suicide watch (per CNN). How has this not gotten more publicity until now? How do those responsible for his incarceration live with themselves?

    Go GATORS!

    Insane.

Had he made a specific threat to a specific target, or something even close to that, I could understand stopping by to ask a few questions. But jail time for this??!??!

Are people going to start to be arrested for saying "I'll kill you", even though it is done in a sarcastic or joking manner? Scary stuff!
