Congrats to them for getting out of this abomination piece of crap legislation.

    http://dailycaller.com/2014/07/17/the-obama-admin-just-exempted-us-territories-from-obamacare/

The Obama administration issued yet another waiver to get out of Obamacare — for all the U.S. territories.
The exemption, posted Thursday on a Department of Health and Human Services website, frees U.S. territories from a host of Obamacare regulations on health insurance markets. The territories already weren’t subject to much of the health care law — the individual mandate doesn’t apply to the territories and premium[IMG] subsidies aren’t available.
What did apply were a host of regulations on the health insurance markets operating in the territories. Obamacare’s rules for insurance companies — providing mandated health benefits[IMG] to all customers, limits on insurer profits, and guaranteed coverage for those with pre-existing conditions — all force insurers to take a hit, but in the territories, the sweeteners that make Obamacare a great deal for insurance companies in the states don’t apply.

Northern Mariana ...Kennedy family personal tax shelter. Lot of liberal and conservative money goes through that impoverished territory to minimize tax burden

All the exemptions could be the ultimate undoing of Obamacare. If you exempt too many, there aren't enough left to keep the rates from skyrocketing, because you can bet they didn't exempt the formerly uninsurable.

Agree on the Patriot Act. By far the worst legislation in the modern era. Still amazed to this day more Americans aren't outraged by not just what was passed in the original law, but all the incrementalism that's occurred in law enforcement and domestic spying since.

I understand it was borne out of fear, but we've had plenty of time to correct it.

when does security trump freedom and privacy? when it's the 'patriot act', that's when. as fubar says, 'borne out of fear', well, it's overstayed it's welcome.
it amazes me that you'd think the aca is governmental overreach, but you're asking me why i'd say that about the patriot act.
really? oh, i dunno, how about these reasons:

Opponents of the law have criticized its authorization of indefinite detentions of immigrants; the permission given law enforcement officers to search a home or business without the owner’s or the occupant’s consent or knowledge; the expanded use of National Security Letters, which allows the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to search telephone, e-mail, and financial records without a court order; and the expanded access of law enforcement agencies to business records, including library and financial records. Since its passage, several legal challenges have been brought against the act, and Federal courts have ruled that a number of provisions are unconstitutional.

Vert, this is very weak sorry. Comparing the Patriot Act to ACA. In my business, the Patriot Act doubled my paperwork but that's it.

well to each his own, lol.
how do you know, though? you don't know who was sifting through your email, do ya?
    :D :D

    seriously. loss of privacy,
    infinite detention,
ability to search email, telephone, financial records, without a court order.
    etc etc etc.

sometimes you guys really make my head spin.
    especially regarding government overreach.

Doubling my paperwork for some accounts (free) vs, $16,000 per for ACA completely different story.
