I disagree. I think they win next week, as well as against Mizzou, UK, and potentially Auburn. They weren't so bad outside of the QB play, IMO.

Anyone else hear the piece yesterday about how Tahj Boyd was committed to UT when Lame took the job, but Lame didn't think Tahj was worth his salt so ran him off?

I have to look at Mizzous schedule but UT is going to be really beat up going into that game after playing Bama and USC back to back. Auburn and Vandy have looked better than UT. UK is certainly a team they can beat they are terrible.

    Their defense is still atrocious.

OBOB is right on the money! UT's defense is awful and I was surprised at how poorly their great/experienced O-line looked as well. Of course, they were facing one of the very best defensive fronts in the country! We had guys in their backfield all day long. UT will win another game or two but I sure don't see them winning 6.

I think it's the worst UT team I've seen since I started watching football in the mid 80s. That's a bad team.

South Bama and UK are probably the only wins they have left on their schedule.

Mizzou is Oregon II. No way they can keep up with them.

They can beat Auburn. Auburn is still not very good.

Talked to a good friend yesterday who is a diehard Vol. He thinks next year's team will be worse with the experienced seniors gone. But he likes Butch Davis, err Jones, and hopes they can get through the valley.

It's true. I remember when it happened. Sight unseen and without a valid alternative at QB, Kiffin encouraged a 5-star pocket passer to decommit. Kiffin also threw a fit that Oakland drafted JaMarcus Russell and ran off 5-star Jesse Scroggins at Southern Cal, again without a proven backup to Matt Barkley. You think he may a problem with, er, "athletic" quarterbacks?

Not sure what to make of Butch Jones yet. I heard he's recruiting solidly. I was really surprised by his decision to throw a freshman QB into his first start against one of the top defenses in the nation and in a hostile environment like the swamp. I would have thought it better to give Worley a series or two and then try out the new guy.

I think they can end up with 5-6 wins.

They're essentially the same team on paper they were last year, minus the playmakers that left for the NFL. The line is still there and I think they are as good as advertised, they're just not protecting a QB who gets the ball out as fast and doesn't have the same caliber of talent to throw to. UT's playmakers made their line look better than it was last year. Poor Johnson is still there making all the plays and all the tackles defensively, but he can't do it by himself. I will say that I think their program is in much better hands with Jones, who has proven he can build and sustain success not to mention win games, than they were with Derek Dooley. Dooley seemed like a nice enough guy but he was just nowhere near qualified for that job.

Best case scenario is 6-6 but 5-7 or even 4-8 seem more likely IMO.
