So if you sign a contract (with I assume a healthy salary) to be a host on the SEC network is there some kind of clause that allows you to walk away in case a NFL team calls?

I'm pretty sure I read (when he signed the contract) that he did have an out if he was signed by NFL team.

Why can't people realize the real reason Timmy hasn't been signed. It has to do with parity in the league. And if he's playin', there's no parity. This comes from the top and the commissioner is in on it!:)

This is correct. He has a clause in his contract that let's him leave for the NFL if they want him.

He should be preparing to be a good announcer and analyst. Greg McElroy during SEC media days was money. He looked like a natural on the mike and in front of the camera.

The last time I saw TT play was against the Bucs third team last preseason. He did not look good, at all, I'm sorry to say.

Well, actually 3 teams have giving Tebow a whiff.

    And Manziel was drafted 22nd.
    Tebow 25th.
    Sam 249th.

If anything it seems as if team's were far more scared of Sam's circus than Tebows. Or maybe it has nothing to do with off the field issues and teams are simply trying to do what is best for their organizations?

Unless you believe Tebow hid his faith throughout college I'm not sure how anyone can claim there is some sort of anti-Christian conspiracy that is holding him back.

I'm a huge Tebow fan- huge. But at this point it doesn't look like the NFL is going to even sign him for training camp as a QB, much less to make the roster. That's the cold reality.

So why not change positions and see if he can catch on in another role?
Worst case- it doesn't work out and he's back on the SEC network. But he's got one more life experience.
And if he makes the team- even better.
This gives him another year (or more) in the NFL doing what he does- making the game interesting and influencing people. And perhaps that same NFL team can plug him in as a Wildcat QB.

Absolutely. I'm always baffled by this persecution complex.

He was the most popular player in college football for nearly four years, all the while happily displaying and speaking on his faith. Why did it only suddenly become an issue once he made the NFL? And how convenient is it that this persecution started congruent with a period wherein he was not playing particularly well?

Because, as immensely talented as he is:

    1. He's played and practiced exclusively as a QB for at least the last 7 years.
    2. He'd be competing against guys who had played and practiced exclusively at their respective positions for 5 years or more.

In due time. Tim is very young. Not to mention the lesson he'll teach them by continuing to work at your dream; especially if it's successful.

I'm pretty sure that teams expressed interest in him at another position last August right before he was cut by the Patriots. And Tebow answered he would not play another position.

I agree he would have an uphill climb but the ESPN crawl stated that teams were interested. (Not sure how reliable that is.)

They expressed interest in him trying out at other positions. Which is a very different thing.

I don't think Tim ever said he would not play another position, but that he wanted an opportunity to be a QB. I bet under the right circumstances he would contribute in whatever way including perhaps playing special teams. In fact the Jets used him as the up man on punts so not doing whatever has never been an issue.

I'm always surprised when Gator fans ask this... You know Tebow, right? Does he seem like the quitting type? My guess is even if five years go by without him joining a team, you'll still hear about him training for the chance. Everyone here has heard all of the stories about people telling him he can't do this, can't do that, etc. You think he's going to quit now, in the prime of his life? He wants to be a QB in the NFL. I understand why teams shy away from him, but that being said, I wouldn't bet against him. :D

FWIW, the ESPN crawl said that when queried about trying for other positions, TT would not do so.

Smooty- I hope you are right. Again I'm a huge TT fan. But if he can't catch on now, with 85 players in camp, how will he catch on in another year- much less 5 years.

Because football skills atrophy when not in use. He could get picked up, but it seems unlikely.

I just think the kid needs to get on the field- some field, any field. (Canada, Arena, etc.) At any position.

    But I could be wrong.

I agree partially. I still can't agree that his faith is why teams won't sign him. However, as an agnostic man, I love TT and I have told myself many times that if I ever came across a few billion dollars to buy an NFL team, I would sign Tim and build around him just because of how great of a person he is. My whole family is full of strong Christian believers. Kurt Warner is of VERY strong Christian faith and he was outspoken about it as well, but he didn't have a problem getting and maintaining a starting job.

On the issue with the media circus, yes, THAT is the issue with keeping Tim on a team. It's not his fault, but they were talking about this on Sedano and Stink just the other day. Stink said that what happens is the media grills the players about Tebow. Everything is about Tebow. Tebow Tebow Tebow... The players start to resent Tebow even though he has no control over it. It's not fair, but that does become a distraction. So, it's not his faith, it's the attention turning negative. The same thing could happen to Manziel, and might happen to Michael Sam IF he even makes the team.
