7th now on Rivals
7th also in average star rating with a 3.62. For reference, UGA is 3.75 and FSU is 3.45.
Top five here we come... Hopefully.
That is insane that Muschamp could possibly land a top-ten class and not sign a single top-20 instate prospect.
I was going off of Rivals' list, and they rate Sharpe as the #35 player instate. Btw, you do realize that almost nobody thinks that Lane actually signs with the Gators, right?
Looks like Powell and Lammons were an even swap, picking up one and losing the other, but staying at #7 with Rivals. 247 had Lammons rated higher than Powell, so we dropped a couple of spots there, but are still higher than we were before Tabor flipped. Not sure how many spots we have left, but I think we'll get Prince and a few niche players, guys that might not have high national rankings, but have been scouted thoroughly and fit nicely somewhere in our system. It's also possible that we could flip a highly rated player at a position of need, probably a DL. No idea who that would be. I think we'll finish somewhere between #5 and #8, allowing for defections or a strong finish by someone ranked below us. That would be outstanding after the season we had.
We should have 4 schollies left with 21 commits
With Ermon Lane and JC Jackson basically gone too, we could pick up 6 more commitments. Right now, we're looking at signing 25.
I know you don't feel real confident about the staff picking up Carter, but who saw Tabor being added to this class? You just never know with some of these guys. If you remember, a lot of people felt real confident that Jarvis Jones would be a Gator; that turned out to be a huge loss when he went to USC, before transferring to Georgia. We're still very much alive for Prince, Carter and Adoree. I'll be happy if one of them signs with us.
Oak made a good point that the staff might end up hitting on the Powell pickup, as it does seem that he would be a nice toy for Roper to work into the new attack. We need a change-of-pace type of back anyway, and we could use a little bit of shake that we can throw at the opposing D for maybe 5-10 touches a game; possibly more if a guy like that gets into a rhythm.
Also, remember that Lauderdale is still up for grabs, and it looks like we have a good shot at landing him. Hopefully we can keep the momentum rolling.
I thought Tabor was in the bag months ago, but then the Gators started playing football. The way things are playing out these days, it seems like we have better luck landing players already committed to other teams or totally off our radar. Carter has been on radar since day one, and we're probably still his #2 choice, but a distant second. He goes to Athens the weekend before NSD. That usually doesn't bode well. That said, I will be less surprised than I was with Tabor and more excited.
If we got Prince and Carter, I'll be ecstatic. If we get both of those and keep Lane, this will be a top five class.
Not too shabby for a team that finished 4-8, huh?!
If we keep our current commits then add Adoree' Jackson, Damian Prince, Eric Lauderdale plus perhaps Andrew Mike along with 1-2 more, this should be a top three class.
The thing is, if we can close how many of us think we can/will, then this class will be a top class. Not only in the website rankings but also in terms of filling positions of need with quality players, which is a lot more important. Hello QB of the Future, offensive playmakers including hopefully a starting TE which we have lacked, some good WR depth, and OL to fill maybe our biggest need. Add onto that filling out our D-Line with three 5* type players in Clark, Willis, and Holley, plus a good DB class and we will be a top class not just online but on the field.
Easily top 5.
amazing the difference 2 weeks can make
Thanks for the laugh.
You've beat the hell out of that drum.. A. Muschamp got better talent at most positions out of state this year. Smart man.
B. We're not done yet.
C. Rivals is not the best service anymore.
