What's his status? Is he taking a medical redshirt? It looks like he's no longer on the UF roster.
Hopefully, he will be able to come back, if he is healthy.
Sad that the two top tight ends in the nation have not worked out for us.
Kent Taylor transfers to Kansas. Kansas?
And now, Thompson's foot problems are still lingering.
I deleted my previous posts because I shouldn't have posted something unconfirmed. If I find the info I was leaning towards, I'll repost it.
Taylor, Thompson and 2 transfers are why we've had to watch 2 DEs pretend to be TEs the past two seasons. It has been like playing 10 against 11 as neither former DE has been a substantially better blocker than receiver. Hoping to see the freshman earn his way to the field and 20 receptions this season.
Move on - we have a couple of freshman that should be good.
CT football days are over. His foot injury has ended his career. Feel for the kid.
I thought I heard that too but I deleted my post because I couldn't remember where I heard it.
If I was wm, I'd take Thompson to a Faith Healer or the best orthopedic surgeon in the country. This young man has been the most complete TE on the roster the past 2 seasons - he just can't get on the field due to his foot problems. It would be a huge boost to have him healthy for fall along with the freshman.
Florida redshirt sophomore tight end Colin Thompsonwill leave the program after repetitive foot injuries kept him off the playing field in his first two years on campus. Thompson was removed from the team's official roster this spring, but head coach Will Muschamp indicated Thompson was still seeking a second opinion on his health. Lions247 reports thatThompson visited Penn State on Thursday and has been granted a release from Florida. Central Florida, Stanford and Temple are other options for Thompson, according to Lions247.
Thompson was a former four-star recruit, rated as the No. 4 tight end nationally in the 247Composite, an industry-generated recruiting ranking. He was also rated as the No. 134 player nationally in the 2012 class.
I wish he would play for us....
No offense to Mr. Thompson, but it doesn't matter.
I'd love to know of another time any team signed the top 2 players in the USA at any position at the same time and BOTH were instantaneous busts- especially TEs at a place with no playmakers.
Going out on a limb here but I'm thinking 2012
haha, corrected. It will always be 2012.
Bad luck recently with TE's- Leonard, Taylor now Thompson (no surprise I suppose). I'm optimistic about McGee though!
McGee and the freshmen will fill the gap nicely while Thompson becomes an all world TE at Penn State with nary a sign of his prior injury. wm states that we don't need a 260# TE who can't stretch the field anymore.
he just tweaked his foot. He will be ready to go in the fall ( for some team)
It's not Muschamp's fault the guy has a glass slipper. He thinks he's going to magically harden up by going to the Big 10?
