I think your thread title needs to be changed. It should read: "The 1st place Tampa Bay Rays." Not to mention one of the best months in mlb history. Never llse faith in Maddons bunch. They are the best run organization in baseball. ...now we just need a stadium! #gorays

Archer is a great kid and was filthy today. The staff, if healthy, plus Cobb is just unfair.

Not to ruffle anyone's feathers but I get frustrated in hearing over and over again that the Rays need a new stadium as that will be the magic fix to their attendance problems. While the Trop is not the Taj Mahal of stadiums I don't think it is keeping people from going to the games. It is a shame because the Rays have had really good teams the last 5 years or so and the fans just do not turn out unless it's against the Yankees and to a lesser extent the Red Sox or Cubs. While it would be great to have one of the new stadiums with every amenity imaginable the Rays fans have to show they will show up before it is ever going to happen.

This is such a great thread to read back through, especially with all the posts that look foolish now. Time for these young bucks to carry us home, Go Rays!

The Good Guys, the Rays, beat the Bad Guys, the Yankees tonight! :)

Or, the Young Guys beat the Rich Guys! :)

    Gotta love it!

There's a reason that just about every team has a newer stadium than the Rays. Newer stadiums generate more revenue. Couple that with the fact that the games should be played outside and in Tampa and you get the dilemma that we have.

Nonetheless. This is the best team in baseball right now, and I love it.

The Marlins have the newest stadium in baseball and they are dead last in attendance.

I was watching ESPN this morning about Archer's game. Kid was lights out. Then they went over the pitching rotation for the Rays....I must say very impressive. They are playing amazing right now. Congrats to them. Yes they do need to play outdoors.

Archer is lights out man. Rays have the best starting rotation not only in the league, but the best ever in their history. Price is tearing it up right now, Moore and Hellickson are just shutting teams down left and right, only one that has been subpar is Roberto Hernandez, but even he has been relatively good this year he gets no run support.

The difference the rays have this year compared to the last 4-5, is they are really deep in hitting. Rookie Wil Myers is an absolute stud, Desmond Jennings has elevated his game a lot. Zobrist, Escobar, and Joyce are all good contact hitters and reliable. Longoria is struggling right now but he will snap out of it, and Loney is the man.,. Best contact hitter we've ever had, I hope they extend his contract can't get rid of him.

    GO RAYS!!!!!

Ill admit I jumped the gun the beginning of the season but this is the best team ever fielded by them.

This is their year to win it all.

Huge Rays fans and couldn't be happier at how they have been playing. No drama in the clubhouse and they really appear to be enjoying each other. Such a breath of fresh air. We go to games frequently, and it seems that there is almost always a terrible thunderstorm going on while we are safely tucked inside. We always comment that an open air stadium would probably mean multiple rainouts and ultimately less attendance. Unless they are putting on a retractable roof, I can't imagine a bigger mistake than to build an open stadium in Tampa during the summer.

Well it could be unless they put a retractable roof up which is what I think they would do. Either way I'm so psyched for this year, they are the best team out and I can not see any other team being better.

Rumor is longoria's contract was suppose to be higher, but he took a little pay cut so the raise would have enough money to sign David Price, so keep an eye out for that.

New stadiums produce revenue through new advertising, luxury sales, bars, establishments etc...even with subpar attendance... Plus Tampa is not Miami.....A nice downtown, OUTDOOR stadium would work in Tampa.

Yep, if you put a stadium near Channelside or at the I4-I75 intersection,T I really believe that attendance will go up. The weekday crowds would increase significantly IMO.

Agreed , but who is funding it? The trop is easily the worst stadium in baseball, but credit to the Rays for overcoming it.

BTW, the marlin stadium is not in downtown miami.

Channel side for sure. You see the Lightning were the worse team in the NHL this year. The lightning sold out just about every game.

Put a retractable roof stadium in Tampa, at channelside, make it 20,000-25,000 and it will se out way more often.

Don't get me started on the Marlins. Before the move to the "Miami" Marlins, most the fans came from Broward Country. So the owner used tax dollars to build a stadium further from those fans. Miami fans in general are terrible but add into the fact that the team has been a yoyo the last 10-15 years. Every time they put together a great squad they blow up it shortly after. Every time a nice young player needs a new contract they drop him. Miami will never be a quality club long term.
