Terrible news for bay area residents who could accidentally see part of the game when turning on a tv that is unknowingly tuned to that channel.

Good job getting the word out to folks!

Now that all of their fans are regularly tuning into Miami Dolphins' games they figured they might want to stop being such douches about not showing their crappy product on television. Too little. Too late.

Tampa Bay needs to put the Bucs to rest, and resurrect the Bandits.

that's good, now I don't have to watch the phins, not that the bucs were any better. I'll get to watch Glennon get smashed until Schiano gets the axe.

Well too bad I'm boycotting the NFL or else I'd love this news.

Jags fan, eh? Love how the fans of FL pro teams hack at each other, so I'll contribute. Pi$$ on the Jags and Dolphins. Go Bucs!

Well, you're fortunate! I have not been able to see any Dolphins or Jaguar games. And no, I don't live in Tampa or Hillsborough County. Last Sunday Tampa Bay was on the road at New England for the 1:00pm Kickoff. Both the Jaguars and Dolphins had the later 4:00pm and 4:25pm kickoffs. When I first noticed that schedule I thought we'll this is great! I'll finally be able to see the Dolphins and Jaguars play! Nope! No way!
Just a Bucanneers road game with an early kickoff.

i think this is a bad move, should have waited to announce game by game. Now people without season tickets will not buy tickets to go to the game, they know they can watch the debacle at home.

they need to start giving away free beer and hot dogs to get people to the bucs games--they are terrible--fans have had enough of that mediocrity.

I don't watch the boring no fun league so I don't care at all. Any league that blacks out its product should be boycotted and left to go bankrupt. The NFL is pathetic.

Can you imagine a company like Apple or Rockstar Games saying "if we don't XX number of pre-orders we won't sell anyone our product".

How NFL fans take this is beyond me, especially since the NFL is boring and loaded with commercials.

Of course you know that if the pre-orders stopped for many products...the products would disappear. That's the nature of many businesses today.

...and the NFL is easily the most popular sport in our country...hardly boring to countless millions of us.

That's pretty squirrelly. You know Tampa Bay isn't going to be anywhere even close to 85%. I presume they'll just take and distribute free tickets to underprivileged kids or something. And that's great if they do that, but if there's going to be an NFL rule about 85%, it should be enforced strictly.

Personally, I think they should modify the rule and allow the team to decide, based on it's own criteria, whether or not games are blacked out.

Products would not disappear without pre-orders. Many products don't even have pre-orders. But my pre-order example was not even that good because the NFL still makes money from fans watching the games at home, so they are just so greedy that even that is not enough and they want the fans to spend a ton of money to see their ripoff games live. This is the equivalent of a cell phone company saying if you do not buy the double priced 50 GB version of our phone we will not sell anyone any phones including the 10 GB lower priced versions of it and for you guys who already have our cell phones at home we will send a signal to deactivate them all.

The NFL is extremely greedy just like most other organizations and it has all of the NFL fans by their balls so they get away with this non sense.

As for whether its boring or not, it all depends on your opinion. I find it extremely boring. Plus even if you like it you have to admit it is ridiculous with all of the commercials in it. Also being popular does not mean being the best. Soccer is very popular yet bores me.

for unsold tickets, why not cut the price to $5-$10 on the day of the game to get more people in the stands? then, they can charge $8-$10 for beer, $6-8 for a hot dog, $5 for cokes, etc. and make tons of cash. Unsold seats are a wasting asset---anything they sell for is pure profit.

I think the Jaguars have the better plan. Don't lower the ticket price, but throw in some high-margin perks.

For example, the Jags giving away 2 beers is probably going to cost them $1-2 while giving the consumer the perception they're getting $10-$12 worth of value.

So true. This is a great move by the organization and will actually lead to increased ticket sales. No franchise wants to ever be "out of sight, out of mind". I say Go Bucs!

Some products absolutely depend on pre-sales.
