To play for Minnesota! No, I made that part up. But he really is making $1M this year, to escalate to $3M "soon".

There have been conflicting reports about this for years. However, CBS article seems to end it.

Steve young was far from the biggest star in the USFL

Reggie White, Jim Kelly, Herschel Walker, Kelvin Bryant....etc

That league introduced me to football. My dad took me as a small boy. Go Bulls!

What? Who doesn't like slide shows that are twenty pages long?

The USFL was the end to the Fins. Czonka, Kiick and Warfield all
left to better deals taking the Super Bowl O with it.

Huh? I forget, who did the USFL take from the Fins?

That was the World Football League back in the Mid 70's. Jacksonville had a team called the Sharks and their head coach was a high school coach from New Smyrna, Bud Asher. I remember the owner of the Sharks saying Bud Asher will become greater than Vince Lombardi.

I think he's confusing it with the WFL (World Football League).

No mention of his time with the Bucs? I guess most people other than Bucs fans don't realize that he played two seasons for the Bucs before the Bucs decided that Vinny Testaverde was their QB of the future and traded Young to the 49ers.

He's being paid by a insurance company. The Tampa Trib had a similar article.

That was the WFL. The USFL was in the 80s, WFL was the 70s.

Young looked like Sh-- with the Bucs. Then again, there was ZERO talent around him and the coach was a bum.

Yes he did. But Bill Walsh was smart enough to see that his problems were created by having such a sorry team around him. The Bucs weren't smart enough to realize that no QB was going to look good with that pathetic bunch of players.

Alright, mea culpa on taking a BR story and running with it. But the concept is still interesting. Apparently it could have happened.
