Staggering Costs of Implementing Obamacare

    Article examines the costs to implement. Staggering. A few excerpts:

    Cost to US Treasury over $1.8 T over next 10 years.
    Medicaid expansion $700 B over 10 years
    CBO estimates individual penalties $45 B over 10 years
    CBO estimates employer penalties $140 B over 10 years
    Males age 20-29 see largest bump in premiums @ 59% increase
    Through March 2013 US Government has spent almost $400 M readying cloud computing capabilities for the exchanges.
    Delaying Employer mandate to cost $12 B to fed government and approximately 1 M will do without insurance that would have been covered.
    Med Device makers have paid $1 B in additional taxes this year (before implementation) and will pay $29 B in additional taxes over next 10 years. (those are additional taxes on top of what they already pay)
    To avoid paying the Obamacare penalty businesses have created over 700 K part time jobs this year representing 77% of total job creation.
    Health insurers eager to collect on 16 M new Medicaid patients as a result of this legislation.

    One thing that must change in the near future is how the CBO operates.

    Those clowns are used be both sides of the aisle to lie on estimates just because they can't use their in house (critical thinking) understanding when they prepare a cost estimates. Garbage in garbage out.

    Most telling point in that entire presentation was at the end...the # of Medicaid eligible jumps by 16 M immediately. Now we know why some states said NO. Their fear is who pays the tab after year 3 which is all the federal government has guaranteed to cover. It is far more difficult to "take something away from someone" than it is to add a benefit when it is financially prudent to do so.

    I'm praying for either a revolt from the masses....or a mass exodus from this country to end this nightmare early.

    If the Dems get a mandate in the 2014 midterms, I'll know this country is in deep trouble.

    Truly sobering numbers for anyone paying attention. Of course, this has long been the primary criticism from conservatives and a skeptical public...and looks as if they were right the entire time.

    keep in mind that skinny young black kid was not trained as a pin ball wizard but as an extortionist to secure money from businesses and government to support enterprises like Acorn. That's how he rolls.

    1.8 trillion over 10 years is small potatoes compared to what we already pay for social security, medicare and medicaid.

    dangole...the $1.8 T is in addition to ss, medicare and Medicaid. That is additional borrowing. Additional debt. Keep in mind, we have not "reformed" the entitlement programs we already have. Simpson-Bowles (commissioned by the regime) had a decent plan. It was ignored.

    Yes, I know it is in addition to SS, medicare and medicaid. We are already paying 250 billion per year for medicaid alone. So the current cost of medicaid alone is greater than the cost of Obamacare. The 1.8 trillion is not additional borrowing. It's accounted for by revenue increases and spending reductions.

    That would mean it would be a net zero cost to the treasury and that is not what is now being projected. That was the original "pitch" which we now know to be bull crap.

    What is now being projected and who is projecting it? The 1.8 trillion cost projection has been in place for some time. This is the the projected cost of Obamacare. This figure doesn't include the new revenues and spending cuts that are also part of the ACA.
