Looks like you could pick up some good land deals.

Here are a couple of quotes from one of the blogs about East St Louis...

Hall, overall St Louis is a fantastic city. Sorry that if I overplayed East St Louis. To honest to the all of you, all big cities have there own East St Louis. Heck, there are some areas of Jacksonville's are not for the meek to venture into.

St Louis has a lot going for it and I recommend it for a vacation stop.
St. Louis is very rich in history and culture. It also offers over a dozen colleges that have highly rated graduate and post graduate degree programs: engineering, medicine, business, teaching, fine arts, and information technology.

If you are an outdoors person St Louis is a primo location. You are no further away than a three hour drive from excellent fishing, hunting, hiking, camping, and boating.

The winters can be brutal but not as bad as the Twin Cities. The summers can be hot but nothing like a Dallas Texas hot.

By the way I know the area first hand. I spent a lot of summer vacations on my grand father's farm just outside Belleville, Illinois (20 miles southeast of St Louis).

I was just there for the weekend with my family. Good solid towns. Lots of cool little areas to live in. Plenty of amenities. One could do a lot worse than St. Louis.

It is inhabited by Obama voters with their drawers down to their ankles, crack pipes in their pocket and nothing to lose by popping you for $20. Mini version of Detroit. The cops won't answer calls there.
